I think so.
![]() Yes, it's called Tatranské elektrické železnice (Tatra's electric railways). It's something between tram and train for transport in Poprad - Tatry region. |

Motorway tunnels in Slovakia
Here is a map of motorway (not expressway) tunnels in Slovakia. It's old a bit, but still the most actuall available. Black are built, red are U/C, green are planned or prepared and what are blue I'm not sure, probably it means exploration tube is done. But, Sitina and Lučivná are alredy built and some green tunnels should be probably blue now. ![]() ![]() Pictures a info about some of the tunnels: Tunnel Branisko (4975 m) in half profile. Emergency tube will be rebuilt on regular tube, when motorway will be finished: ![]() Tunnel Horelica (605 m) is on D3 in half profile, opened in 2003: ![]() Tunnel Sitina (1440 m) was Slovakia's first full profile motorway tunnel. It's on motorway D2 and it's part of Bratislava inner bypass: Video from driving through Sitina - http://www.ndsas.sk/index/open_file....lom_Sitina.wmv ![]() ![]() ![]() Tunnel Lučivná (250 m) is on D1. It was opened recently in in full profile. To be honest it's rather underpass :![]() Tunnel Bôrik (999 m) on D1 is currently U/C in full profile: ![]() ![]() Tunnel Ovčiarsko (2367 m). There is only exploration tube done: ![]() Tunnel Višňové (7460 m). Exploration tube is done only as well: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tunnel is 100 m under this ventilation: ![]() Pictures are from: http://www.highways.sk http://www.ndsas.sk http://www.dialnice.info http://www.vahostav.sk http://www.doprastav.sk http://www.mojliptov.sk http://www.bratislava-inline.sk and others |

D1 Sverepec - Vrtier and R1 arnovica - áovské Podhradie
After long long planning, several trials, numerous protests and many many arguments two important and very needed sections are finaly under construction: Already mentioned D1 Sverepec - Považská Bystrica - Vrtižer and just 3 days ago R1 Žarnovica - Šášovské Podhradie. Although they are not already U/C completely, they soon will be.
![]() R1 Žarnovica - Šášovské Podhradie Map: ![]() This is how R1 temporarily ends near Žarnovica: Interchange Šášovské Podhradie: I will post more photos when some will appear on web. D1 Sverepec - Považská Bystrica - Vrtižer This section is the 9.5 km missing gap on motorway between Bratislava and Žilina which was delayed several times. Now is U/C its Eastern part, consturction of the Western with 40 m high viaduct over Považská Bystrica and 30 m high viaduct over river Váh will start soon Map: ![]() One of the first pictures from construction: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Maps are from www.highways.sk and www.ndsas.sk. Construction of R1 Žarnovica - Šášovské Podhradie started officially on February 26th and physically it will start on March 4th (this Tuesday). To be more exact it is subsection Žarnovica - Lehôtka pod Brehmi, construction of the rest of this section (Lehôtka pod Brehmi - Šášovské Podhradie) should start this year as well, but I don't know exact date. Press release from webpage of construction company Stavby silnic a železnic: http://www.ssz.cz/tiskove_zpravy/172 |

I don't know how those three posts came there, but I was typing my post and something went wrong. Anyway, Qwert, I was wrong, I should have had a better look. My pics aren't posted here yet, so here they are: 18 between Ruzomberok and Liptovsky Mikulas: ![]() D1 near Liptovsky Hradok:

Here are a few more of my pics of Slovakia:
Border Mosty u Jablunkova - Svrinovec (CZ-SK). It's a nice border, because there are actually two border stations left, and both in use. One in the direction of CZ: ![]() And the other one in the direction of SK: ![]() Traffic lights and an approaching thunderstorm near Martin (this storm eventually gave 15 mm of rain in 1,5 hours!): ![]() Border SK-PL, east of the Tatras (Zdiar): ![]() Hope you like it!

I think Alex meant to say the way how Western Europeans look at Eastern European roads.

I live in the USA, but I am not originally from the US and I have my share of driving in Europe
What I meant by "European look" is how European roads look in general (design, signs, marking, etc.) I didn't mean to distinguish between the Eastern European and Western European roads.
