Most western European forum members have grown up without physical borders, except for the older members who have experienced the pre-schengen era (and I don't mean in childhood).
Until 2007, central/eastern Europe used to have those awful border crossings that delayed travelers for hours, so most forum members from that area still have vivid memories from those borders, inducing perhaps a higher amount of interest in border crossings.

Just curious. What's the average time it takes to cross the RUS-UA or RUS-BY border nowadays (in a car) ?

A few hours I would say, depending on the time of the day and whether it is weekend or not.

That others are lazy, yes. I don't see Russians, Belarusians or Ukrainians here anyway. If you mean new EU members (eastern EU), it's because we dominate in the whole H&A subforum, so logically here too.

"The new world".

However, it's kinda weird that Spain, which has also seen significant motorway construction in the past 15 years, is not a very active topic here on H&A. Portugal is more or less the same and to a lesser extent - France.

However, shameless country promotion is also an issue here on SSC. Some topics are nothing more than a bunch of googled pics to promote a country (like Venezuela).

To make it even more messed. This is e.g. Hungarian border stone with MO (I guess it's Magyarország)

And this is Slovak with just S:

Yes MO = Magyarország Magyar = Hungarian ország = country

that's true. i only appreciate photos made by forumers themselves. only if it is necessary to demonsterate something (for instance, green sign at HR A6 in 90es ) i find it excused

(omg, my english became really bad, i cannot remember better word instead of "excuse" in this sentence)

Luckily it's the least problematic in H&A; I think much less than in many other subforums. Some forumers simply don't want or don't know how to discuss roads, so they only post pics. I'd appreciate, if they were their own, it would be much more interesting.

Back to border crossings.

Back to border crossings from other parts of the world than just tiny Eastern Europe please. I feel like I'm almost the only one trying to post pictures of non-European/non-North American borders, like those African borders I posted.

Ha, my tiny US - Canada border picture was immediately lost among massive Eastern European border pictures. How about posting pictures of actual functional border stations, not what once was a border?

Not a "functional" border, but still pretty interesting. This was the border between France and Piedmont-Sardinia until 1860.
