Not sure why that "drive on left" sign exists!!

The other difference one would notice, as partially shown in your second example, is the change from Euros to Pounds on business advertising.

I don't understand why they can't have welcome to the county signs. Surely you can state what county you are in without saying what country it is is, none have naming disputes like (London)Derry.

Yes, but they would still be destroyed, people would claim "it's not another country!!!"

There are welcome to county signs in some places, but these are not universal on any county boundary. They cost money, which may not be a priority in the present environment.

It still seems stupid, I get told when entering Armagh from Tyrone but from Monaghan I only get told to use MPH.

The border between the German Empire and France before 1914.

The exact same place today. It is now only the border between the Haut-Rhin department and the Territoire-de-Belfort department.

Until it will open, will the traffic just pass by without any checks, or is the road closed??

No no, the road is in function, the BiH control are two containers not far away from the new checkpoint.

I made a report about the whole road Herceg-Novi - Trebinje in june 2009, here is the link:

Breaking into the US

This is a link to an amusing CBC story about a Canadian family that wandered into the US. This occurred at Four Falls, New Brunswick, the only land border crossing where it is legal to enter Canada, but not to enter the US. (Note - the link on this page is in small type.)

Honestly, i do not Know!!! Perhaps it was the old border control 100 years ago!!!

P.S.: 1) I forgot to tell that this is a railway(uper deck)-road international bridge!!!

2) It was projected by Eiffel and inaugurated in 1886!!!

On google.maps it seems to be just a support for railway on the upper deck. You have to turn right before the sign of Portugal to get to the old customs building.
At the Spanish side of the bridge there should probably be similar wall with sign of Espana.
It was main border crossing from Northern Portugal to Spain for some 100 years. Not sure when they completed motorway bridge next to this one.

Yes it is, and on perfect conditions!!! In Portugal we try to use every old bridge (road or train) to her full potential, for historical and for economical reasons!!!
