why do you think so? this is definitely digital photo. what makes it more newer, it is 16:9. so it is probably up to 5-6 years old.

Yep, for example D1 and D2 in Bratislava. When you enter from Austria, you even get some signs that reminds you that this is an urban motorway.

i thought these motorways in BA are supposed to be completely divided from the city with fences, so there was limit only due to larger amount of traffic.

Well, it's exactly that. The motorways are divided from the city and there are no same level junctions, but because of high traffic (and 1 tunnel on D2) there are special speed limits (90 km/h in this case).

Sorry for pics, it might be better to don't send anything next time, and the most of Highways & Autobahns is European so if you are not happy u can do something about it or leave us alone here.

Btw mate, Poland, Slovakia, Germany etc. is Central Europe.

I think there are no more examples than Bratislava now. The next "urban motorway" (diaľnica v obci/meste) will be R1 in Banská Bystrica.

I forgot that one. I know that a part of R1 is u/c, but the existing part isn't considered as an urban expressway? I mean this part.

It is not really expressway. Sign is where is industrial zone I think and conditions of that section are really poor to be expressway. I think they will re-build it a bit next year after Northern by-pass (Severný obchvat) will be done.

I am not sure if I have ever sent this -

county

district

country

For us Western Europeans, Western Europe is west of the former iron curtain and Eastern Europe is East of the former iron curtan.

Anyway, it is not so easy to write the exact definition of "Central Europe". There are more aspects: historical, economy, geografical etc. There are many studies and analyses concerning this matter....

The iron curtain as the dividing Western and Eastern Europe - it is also right point of the view. Anyway EU (many times), in Austria is the idea of Central and Eastern European countries used as well (in German languages so called MOEL countries...).

What could be the "hard core" Central Europe, it means the countries always considered as the part of Central Europe - Bohemia, Moravia (o.k, say the Czech Republic), Lower and Upper Austria (Niederoesterreich, Oberoesterreich), sure Vienna included.
The fact is that it is about the right or suitable definition of the area between the river Rhein and the rive Tisa.

The reasonable background for the determination of the Central Europa might be the territory of the former Austrian-Hungarian monarchy. But. There are not most of the regions in Poland, Germany (at least Saxonia or Bavaria might be considered), and Croatia, Bosna, eastern Adriatic coast ?- that is the question. Slovenia - sure, it was part of former Yugoslavia, might be considered as the gateway to the Balkan however its history, economic relationships - that country is part of Central Europe (the "wider" definition).

I would like to show the various view concerning the definition of the Central Europe.

Also for those of us old enough to remember the actual (well, not "actual," but you know what I mean....) Iron Curtain.

There was a time in my life that Central Europe seemed like an old-fashioned way of saying Eastern Europe. Maybe it's starting to switch the other way.
