thanks for the pics. "vellacher kotschna" - "kočna" (btw, 4 letters for one slovene "č" ) is a name for a valley (the glaciar end of a valley) in this area. there are plenty of them, situated partly in austria and slovenia.

I don't know if this was already posted:

San Diego (USA) - Tijuana (Mexico) border crossing

some 35 million people legal crossings (both ways) every year, only thru this point

The first photo is quite old now. Nowadays, there is a huge outlet mall in the upper left hand side of the photo, right up against the border wall. Good stores... Old Navy jeans for around $20. Miss that... but I digress. :-)

Yeah, but the Italians are not realy hard workers, they have no time to change the tables I found several Signs with Yugoslavia on it at the italian side of the smaller border crossings like Uccea/Ucja - Zaga , Cividale - Robic or Cividale - Neblo.

Why do we Italians have to pay for new signs for political changes in other nations?

Just joking, though

No Pics?

There is a sign at service area "Eisentratten" at the Austrian A10 which points to Villach and the oval for SLO. Ik you look at that sign, you will see that there is the old "YU" oval underneath. The SLO-oval is smaller than the YU-oval

I used to cross before the war Italian/YU border. It was a wonderful experience. The Italians were always down to earth and nice. That is not the case with the new EU states. There is always some ego attitude from them.

A former international border crossing: on the far side of that fence is East Germany, as seen from the Point Alpha Observation Post in West Germany. Now it's just the border between Hessen and Thüringen...

Something tells me that the pedestrian crossing was realized AFTER 1989...

In Mödlareuth, on the border between Bayern and Thüringen. I have been there some years ago. There is a museum, and you can climb into a DDR-watchtower.

There seems to be something left on a huge rest area between Herleshausen and Eisenach on A4.

Again from the blog "Histórias da Raia",

(P) São Pedro do Rio Seco / (E) La Alameda de Gardón

(P) Mairos / (E) Villarello

The photo was taken in Portugal, the wooden sign is Spanish

These are also borders of timezones (Spain is one houer ahead of Portugal which uses "British time". Unless the USA, in Europe there are no signs telling you entering an other timezone. More specific: I have never seen them.
