Hong Kong - Shenzhen. I think there are up to 50 lanes each way at the widest points.

Does this mean that when crossing from China into Hong Kong they move 50 lanes from the right hand-side of the road to the left?

The lane switch occurs just south of the border crossing:

So vehicles with British style registration plates are actually allowed in (old) China? I thought China didn't allow foreign registered vehicles (although Hong Kong is now technically China, they still use British style DVLA plates.)

I said some pages before that border between Spain and Gibraltar is the narrowest all over the world that can be crossed by car.

When Macao was Portuguese, I am not sure but I think that border was narrower.

Don't I bloody know it! The last time I went into Gib with my 7.5 metre van I had trouble getting out! Been queuing to get back into Spain, waited at least one hour - two lanes of traffic, and I was on the right, when right before the Spanish controls I had to do a sharp right, forcing traffic on my left to halt, and then Spanish customs had to adjust some fencing so I could do a sharp left again!

It is so bottlenect and distances are so small that in a lot of web pages will reccommend you to park your car at any parking in Spain, get a taxi until the border and later a taxi or bus until destination.

Rarely... but faster, faster, faster.

I normally park my van at what used to be the Safeways supermarket, just across the border, then walk across the airport runway and take a bus into town.

They are allowed into Mainland China, but they need a Chinese reigstration too, same with Macau

Talking about it, another historic photo.

It was taken at the border between France and Spain in the French side the 23rd October 1940.
It was on the train station of Hendaye which is just 400m away from border.

The person in the centre is F.Franco, the Spanish dictator until 1975. They were on negotiations about neutrality while world war.

The actual tripoint is located in the middle of the small river Túr, and the foundation of the small monument points towards the actual tripoint:

There is such a small monument in all 3 countries. This is the Ukrainian:

And this is the Romanian:

Pictures are from kukorikotkoda at panoramio.com

You can see Túr/Tur/Typ inscribed on all of them.

AFAIK walking across the border is still forbidden, since Romania has not joined Schengen yet.

it is forbidden to cross .. not even between romania and hungary .. the place is guarded 24 / 7 ... you can visit the tripoint take a walk around the stone in a circle of 7 metres wich is netral zone .. but all this under the observation of the guards .. if you want to take pictures , you must not include the other images of the other two countries ( in this case , you can see .. it was a magyar who took the pics ) .....

same thing aplies yto the tripoint at Rabe - Beba Veche - Kübekháza ( the tripoint between Serbia - Romania and Hungary ) but because of the good relationships especially between Serbia and Romania , the border is opene and for 2 days per year the passing thorugh that pint it is allowed ( this is happening usually in the last weekend of the month of May ).. If Serbia will pe admited in the UE and Romania will get the free movement schengen agreement , maybe in the future we will have this tripoint just a simbolic monument without having the fear to cross it

this is the Tripoint ....
Serbian Side

Romanian Side

Hungarian Side

Entrance in Romania

Entrance in Serbia

Simbolic gate between Romania and Hungary

View from Romania to Serbia ....( the border stone is romanian )

View from Serbia to Romania ( this is where the romanian road ends )

the monument ...and some overview images

border stone

the turkish bridge wich leads the path to the tripoint ( situated in Romania )

I think it should be allowed to walk around tripoints a few metres from them. How thick do you have to be to not allow that?

Not an international border but a regional one:

On this side of the river Danube: Ulm, Baden/Wuerttemberg; on the other side: Neu-Ulm, Bavaria. As seen from the 160 meter high Dom.
