The Schengen acquis doesn't necessarily make it lawful to cross the border otherwise than at an authorised border crossing in the case of a reintroduction of internal border checks.

Regulation (EC) No 562/2006
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/...6R0562:EN:HTML
Quote:
Temporary reintroduction of border control at internal borders
Article 24
Procedure for foreseeable events
1. Where a Member State is planning to reintroduce border control at internal borders under Article 23(1), it shall as soon as possible notify the other Member States and the Commission accordingly, and shall supply the following information as soon as available:
(a) the reasons for the proposed reintroduction, detailing the events that constitute a serious threat to public policy or internal security;
(b) the scope of the proposed reintroduction, specifying where border control is to be reintroduced;
(c) the names of the authorised crossing-points;
(d) the date and duration of the proposed reintroduction;
(e) where appropriate, the measures to be taken by the other Member States.
There has to be a list of authorised border control crossing points available - it isn't the case that every road crossing is necessarily going to be an authorised crossing point, and crossing the border somewhere in the woods is almost certainly not going to be via an authorised crossing point.

Under Article 28, in the case of a reintroduction of internal border controls, the relevant provisions of Title II (control of external borders) apply - which includes, I suspect, paragraph 3 of Article 3:
Quote:
3. Without prejudice to the exceptions provided for in paragraph 2 or to their international protection obligations, Member States shall introduce penalties, in accordance with their national law, for the unauthorised crossing of external borders at places other than border crossing points or at times other than the fixed opening hours. These penalties shall be effective, proportionate and dissuasive.
This suggests to me that (no matter how silly that might be) it is unlawful to cross an internal border other than at an authorised border crossing point in the case of a reintroduction of internal border controls within the Schengen rules. Whether this is applied in practice is, of course, questionable.

For non-Spanish speakers: A.S.N.M. means "altitude over sea level" (Altitud Sobre el Nivel del Mar)

How many road borders are over that altitude?

Does anyone know if you can reach the Dreiländereck Germany-Czech Republic-Austria by car? I mean which could be the best option by car and then my guess is a little walking/hiking. Thanks.

Only if you want to drive on unpaved forest roads. It's quite a hike from the nearest main road, especially the altitude difference (some 500 meters).

AFAIK the shortest route is from Bayern, precisely Dreisesselberg:
http://www.mapy.cz/#x=13.859545&y=48...m&d=base_154_1

But if you want to enjoy a nice hike, try the czech route - leave car near Láz, take the blue hiking route to Holzschlag Grenzübergang near Plešné jezero and then enjoy the red ridge route to Plechý/Plöckenstein (1378 m) and to Trojmezí (1321 m) and don't miss the detour marked in yellow - worthy.

And as far as traffic was intense, they could take a fine if nor demolished.

If I am not wrong, these customs are inside Spanish territory, as well as in the Atlantic, they are in French territory.

Very nice! That area, up to Passau, is full of border crossings, unfortunately I had the chance to see just a couple of them, and this one wasn't on the list

Actually, on our way to *******, we crossed this bridge with the car, but on the way back we crossed on another one, also towards Burghausen, unfortunately, no pictures, since it was to dark.

I crossed that border in 2007. I was on my way from England with one pallet for Mo-i-Rana in my van and went via Helsingborg, Stockholm and Vilaminastad, but there were no customs agencies on that border to clear that pallet. I had to clear it on the way back on the border from Oslo to Gothenburg.

Here the delivery in Mo-i-Rana:

And the hotel in Mo with my van:
