The only salvation for you guys is the activation of the Schengen Treaty in Bulgaria and Romania.

Yes, this would be the best option. But the western europeans think that we will invade them if this happens, so no Schengen for us right now...

I am under the impression that next year (2014) everything is going to change regarding Schengen. Bulgaria and Romania will join, at last...

Regarding unemployment, have you thought about self-employment?

Actually, the Netherlands believe that is not the case, as many Romanians and Bulgarians are already in Spain and Italy. Also there's a mass unemployment going on in Western Europe...

Edit wrong quote. My reply is to bogdymol.

Nope, I'm currently searching for a job. But I think it's not the proper thread to discuss this.

I am not sure... I know only two official (legal) checkpoints. I think they could be 5 or something...

From the other hand, the way British media write and talk about Romanians and Bulgarians is with no doubts condemnation worthy. Also political narration used by some, actually, most British politicians, no matter what wing they are from, consisting of plenty of hatred growing phrases, should eventually have its "grand finale" in EU tribunal.

Sorry for OT. I could not resist.

Not only the British media. There are also daily reports in Austrian and Dutch media about Romanian criminals operating in those countries. In fact, a few days ago it has been reported that Dutch law enforcement is getting help from Romanian police officers to keep the crime wave amongst Romanians in the Netherlands under control. And today in the Tiroler Tageszeitung there was a report of a Romanian gang being apprehended in the small town of Schwaz...
But I'm sure it'll all change when economies in the whole of Europe will take a positive turn...

Yeah, there is this little thing called Europol. It works both ways, the Romanian law enforcement also gets help from Dutch police officers to keep the crime wave amongst Dutch in Romania under control. Either way, it eludes me why do you keep bringing up the so-called 'Romanian crime wave' on a thread about border crossings.

I was replying to someone. I didn't bring it up, someone else did. I thought you were not going to be on this thread again... Either way, these Romanian police officers travel to the Netherlands. Has nothing to do with Europol.

There are two. One in Kipoi (A2) / İpsala (D110) and one in Kastanies (NR51) / Karaağaš (D100). Plus a railway crossing point at Pythio / Uzunk÷prŘ.

Otherwise it is a heavily fortified area on both sides with guards, minefields, observation towers etc.

Not between the Greek mainland and Turkey. There are though sea connections from/to Lesvos, Hios, Kos and Rodos (Rhodes) and mainland Turkey with ferries operating too.

The Schengen agreement has nothing to do with this matter. All EU citizens are free to travel into any other EU country.

Schengen is about trust. There is less trust on Bulgaria and Romania being able to protect the perimeter of the Schengen area, and thus protect the whole area.

Romania invested a lot of Ç in protecting the external EU borders (with Serbia, but especially with Ukraine and Rep. of Moldova). Even the EU officials admited that we did a good job and the level of border security is adequate for Schengen standards. From now on is just a matter of politics...
