Not much on the topic, but when I see Germans floating in their reality bubble, I have to have a say... I know you're not German, bot you seem to be a German tube, sorry. If the reality does not fit the German mind, too bad for the reality, the reality is simply wrong

The reality is that German is not really important. It will be used off and on, but French is the main language. Popular newspapers will publish articles in both languages, but predominantly in French. The local people speak Luxembourgish, which is a language with Frankish grammar and lots of French vocabulary. I have personally never seen a public announcement exclusively in German.

Some years ago I worked for a well known international public opinion research company. We conducted several researches in European Union, Luxembourg included, of course, by phone.
For Luxembourg we had interviewers in German and French language (actually they were German and French people, calling Luxembourg from Germany and France). Phone calls failed for language issues (i.e. the called person did not speak the language of the interviewer) were around 50% in German and around 35% in French.

Some boring Schengen-borders:

West of Pommersloch (LU), border LU-BE

Bollendorf(DE) - Bollendorf-Pont(LU) (in German called Bollendorferbrück). Border is unmarked

Looking to Luxembourg

On the border at the Sauer/Sûre-river: LU left, DE, right

Entering Bollendorf-Pont in LU

And Bollendorf in DE

Echternacherbrück(DE)-Echternach(LU). Border is unmarked.

The mother of all Schengen-crossings: Entering Schengen from Germany

i saw many signs, official and inofficial, writen only in german language like for example "lkw ausfahrt" which is a traffic sing and usualy should be only in franch.and the luxembourgian language is a variation of the mosel-fränkisch which is a german dialekt.for example this election table on luxembourgian which,i guarantee you, every german can completely understand while a french didnt understand even one word.this has nothing to do with some kind of "i think that this is more important then that" or so,those are just facts

I suppose that because one of those lanes is close.

Anyway, signals would make the same job!

That bridge needs some serious work to improve its road surface.

According to this article the bridge was built in 2001. It looks much older, I would believe it if one says the bridge was built in 1945.
