OK, I don't mind those next to the road, the problem is far more complicated:

Now it is 4x1

There is some kind of construction of these on the A1 and the A7 crossings, but they don't obstruct the 2×2

This video is again about the motorway border crossing between Slovakia and Czech republic. This time I filmed the czech side of the border. As you can see they already dismantled almost everything.

Here you can see how the border crossing was looking before they joined the Schengen:

And as bonus another video, this time the motorway border crossing between Czech republic and Germany Rozvadov-Waidhaus:

They still need to connect the lanes with one another, while Slovaks don't.

BTW Why were these booths so far from each other?

IMHO because these booths were built on/near former parking areas so they just used those for that (land plots, existing infrastructure etc.) but I can't say it's really so..

It would make sense - now they are back to their previous role

Huh, I discussed it and another good reason came out.

Quote:
It had to be built on existing motorway so they decided to built it in direction Bratislava on Slovak side and in direction Brno on Czech side. These locations are the first possible also because of the floodplain forest along the Morava river.

Before they built those 2 border crossings, there were on each side 2 separated controls: you had to stop 1st on slovak side and then on czech side The same situation on the other way. When they built those booths, the czech and slovak police went together, just separated by few meters in controlling the documents. After joining the EU, the 2 police were really together, mostly only the police of the country entering in.

I saw that on another crossing in the north of Slovakia.
Look, over here used to be the Czech side, until last december used for traffic heading to the Czech Republic (sorry for unclear pic):

And here what used to be the Slovak side, until last december used for traffic heading to Slovakia:

Nice videos. It is somehow strange that there was no border till 1993, then people had to cross the border and show their documents, and 14 years later the control have been abolished so people can drive there agin without any delay because of the borderchecks.

Strange world

Yes stupidity of politics, because people of both nations weren't asked , through referendum, if they want to separate.
Anyway, now within a united Europe this is jsut a matter of history.

Yes you are right, though the 2 border crossings are just separated at a brief distance from each other. Anyway the czech side is comeptely dismantled. Last time I passed it was still closed as they were finishing the works. Next time I will make a video.

That would be nice. I'd like to see how it looks like now. These pics were made in August 2007, so it's already a while ago.
