I just thought I'd insert another picture in this thread. Here's a monument at the crossing from France to Spain at Le Perthus.

I have just returned from a trip to the UAE, and have made some pictures of the UAE-Oman border

Approaching the UAE border post

Omani check

Re-entering the UAE

On the E44 highway from Dubai to Hatta, the road goes through Omani territory for about 10 miles. There are no checks here.

As you can see, the border is fenced with barbed wire. This is more clear to see in the UAE-city of Al Ain which borders to Oman:

And from high above, the border between UAE and Oman looks like this (fence on the left)

Yup, it was winter But it was not 40 degrees, but 25-27 (which is more likely there these days).

That's cold

In yesterday's newspaper it was said that Siberia is suffering from some warm weather. In some city (forgot it's name) it was only -27 instead of -60

Neat! Where does that road lead (if anywhere) on the other side?

Type Krynki, Poland in GoogleEarth or Maps, the border is east from there.

What would happen if you crossed the PL/BY border illegally and they catch you? 40 years of Siberia?

From panoramio and PL/RUS border, but it applies here as well:

Quote:
We never tried to cross the border. I would say that it's not a good idea. We talked to the Polish guards that was standing there. He told us that some people had tried to run over the border. They were taken by the Russian guards and had to stay 24 hours in russian "prison" and also pay a lot of money to be released

I see, but that's for Russia. I guess Belarus wouldn't be much difference

I just remember I once read something about people that went to the NO/FI/RU tripoint, and they said that you'd have to pay a penalty of 5000 NOK if you illegally entered Russia. Nice guys, those Russians
