Another border photo from that forum: Cínovec (CS) - Zinnwald (DDR).

I guess it is from the 1980's. Year isn't given, but sign reads "Bezirk Dresden", thus it's GDR time (or shortly thereafter, before sign replacement).

It's a really fascinating photograph, but I can't place the location at all on Street View - any ideas?

Quite possibly here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.73...8i6656!6m1!1e1

The CZ-8/D-170 road looks to be somewhat new so I doubt it's that unless they completely rebuilt it.

What's the current status at the border between Germany and France? I am driving this weekend in the area of Strasbourg, but the hotel is booked in Germany, so I will cross 2 times from Germany to France. I am not worried about paperwork, as I have everything needed, but I am worried about the waiting times at the border.

One friend that travels together with me said that he heard that, due to the "emergency" situation in France, they can deny the entrance of any person, even though they have all required paperwork. He heard that some people were denied entrance in the last month, for no reason at all. Is this true?

Haven't heard about any problem....... It's reported that there are waiting times at German/Austrian border (in both directions) but I've never heard anything about Germany/France. I tried to google info but couldn't find anything.

Generally, 1,000 people were denied entrance to France last month. But you're EU citizen and I guess you're not criminal, so I would not expect any problem for you .

It must be : I've found this -

And the Customs house there looks to be identical to the one still standing today at that border. Interesting how the DDR side has been completely changed though!

Confirmed. Most of the infrastructure seems to have been demolished after the new border crossing opened just to the west.

You can see on the aerial map that there isn't something quite right with the area just to the north of the old Czech customs building.

The railway track, the leftover of overhead traffic sign construction... I can't be more sure.

Bratislava-Čunovo (SK) - Rajka (H)

Exactly this scene:
https://goo.gl/maps/EYBgojnTEBz

The electrification of the railway track was finished on 22.4.1991. No construction works on electrification had started yet at the photograph: so it can't be older than 1990.

Yes, identified it as Rajka straight away as well.

It's quite amazing how small most of the border crossings between the Warsaw Pact countries were - I wonder what was the biggest facility before 1990? And for that matter - are there any border crossings that remain more or less the same as they did in 1990?

Goods traffic was mostly done by trains than by trucks and passenger traffic was limited...

If you want the one between Warsaw Pact and other country in particular, the border crossing Kalotina between SRB and BG has struck my mind.

Most of them were replaced by motorway crossings.

Well, really any European border to be honest. Kalotina looks pretty horrible, though

I think the main one (I don't remember the name) between Greece and Macedonia on the MK side is from Yugoslavia, too? I was there, and it had possibly the worst toilet known to man.

Outdated info. Kalotina had a makeover a couple of years ago. I don't know about the Serbian side.

I'm planning to drive last weekend of December coming from Ptuj to Germany. I'm guessing there are border controls between SLO and A because of migrants.
Which crossing would you recommend to lose the least time?
