^ I remember now, you posted your pictures. On the way back the weather was awful, that was when those floods started in Poland, Slovakia, etc.

Thank you, this is for the first time I actually see new Slovak general speed limit sign.

BTW, I think that forbidden overtaking is a good thing.

Yeah, tanker trucks are often driving only between 70 - 80 km/h, and so are much caravan combinations... Truckers should be allowed to overtake outside rushhours and on quiet rural sections imo.

Then they are breaking law and they should be fined. Minimal allowed speed on Slovak motorways and expressways is 80 km/h. Caravans are fortunately very rare in Slovakia, although on Sunday I saw Dutch one on I/50.

They do it anyway. Especially those with Polish plates. I agree, there should be some electric signs which would allow it on some sections when the traffic is calm. But, first we have to install electric signs on more sections.

Really? I suppose it is higher than in other countries (here 60 if I remeber correctly)

Is there really a mimimal allowed speed on your highways?
In Switzerland your vehicle must be able to drive at least 80km/h, but you can drive as slow as you want as far as I know.

A minimum speed limit would be pointless anyway, no Truck can even remotely get to 80km/h on the south ramp of the San Bernadino for example.

Before the new road act it was only 70 km/h. It seems to be high, but IMO it increased traffic safety since old and slow vehicles cannot enter motorway now. It's also good for truckers who cannot overtake. Now they only rarely meet slow car in their lane.

Here it is the other way round. The car must rech at least 40 km/h (not 60 as I've written) but you cannot drive that slow in good conditions because you will get a ticket for blocking the traffic. At the same time it's up to the police to state this "too low" speed, but I suppose it is <80 km/h.

In Slovakia it means a car must be able to drive at least 80 and also it actually has to drive at least 80 km/h. Of course this is obligatory when there are traffic and weather conditions which allow such speed and if the speed isn't limited by special sign.

There are no sections of motorways and expressways where trucks cannot reach 80 km/h in normal conditions. At least I don't know about any.

Here you are not allowed to drive slowly with no reason on any road.

When I was 10 yrs ago in Portugal there was always on your motorways the sign allowing minimum speed 40km/h, they probably increased it.

Afaik, on Spain the minimum speed for high speed roads is 50% of max speed.

This car was stopped at the PL/LT border some weeks ago. I can understand there are no borders, but hell, this is shameless
