I've been absent in this forum for a last few months but yesterday there was a great weather and I decided to tak a short bike ride thru the other parts of eastern suburbs.
This is relatively new area with lots of fresh houses and it's still developing, however there are some older parts.
The first stop- ticky-tacky boxes, these houses were put up for people who sufferd from the big flood in 1997'th and lost their homes. Now- over 10 years later this area is mostly inhabited by Roms and poor people:

There is a view of the big commieblocks area in the background:

Then it's time for some more ritzy areas with new beautiful houses:

Nice road and sidewalk- rare view in Poland:

There are an apartment buildings as well:

New sprawl is coming:

Older gray commieblocks:

And the last part- Goslawice. It's a district which looks rather like a village than a part of town.
There's a plenty of older houses that need restoration:

This place definitely doesn't look like a town:

Some German organization:

And that's an interesting place- Polish- Spanish pub La Siesta, since there's not much of Spaniards in Opole I was very suprised to see it:

That's all for now

are you sure that you've been in opole ??
there was no trees at the market, and rivers are polluted so I can't imagine people swimming in them

Goslawitz (pol. Gosławice) has been an separate village for many centuries, it's been included to the city somewhere in the early 70's (probably in 1974), now it's center of Silesian and German communities of Oppeln, most of people living there speak Upper Silesian in daily contacts, in local church you can also join pieties in German taking place everyday.
That's also the borough I am from.

Today was a great weather and I decided to take a walk across Pasieka Island- the district is surrounded by Odra river and created in middle ages mill chanell, so it truly became an island neighborhood. It's situated in central part of town, not far away from market square and Bolko island (with city park and zoo), with such a localization and nice, old architecture it is one of the best areas in central Opole. I like this place very much and I decided to show it to you.
Some murals

Youth place of culture

Radio Opole headquater

There are some old radio adapters in front of the building

This is Frideric Chopin rose- a special type of roses cretated especially for Chopin's birthday anniversary

Some old building

This is Barlickiego pond with piastowska tower in tha background, there's very nice fountain

There are some nice restaurants in that area

Neat building

New amphiteather's construction site

Ice- rink

It is very close to the river from shown places- some river front views

Railway bridge

German consulate in Opole

And more older buildings from the island

Lutheran church

School

Some buildings need restoration

There was a tiny commieblock too

That's all for now

I've been to Opole twice last week and I must say that the city looks really nice. It's very clean and well maintained. But what is definitely the best in the city is the zoo. Honestly I've never seen such beautiful and enjoyable zoo, not only in Poland but also in the UK. It's worth a whole day journey to see it!

today I've found some old summer- time pictures and I decided to show' em to You. The place that I'd like to show is not exactly in Opole, it's Krasiejow- a village nestled ca 25 km from the town. Krasiejow was kind of a bit famous since oldest dinosaurs bones were found there. The creature is named Silesaurus opolensis. Some private company put up an interesting education park with didactic path, models that show possible dinosaurs appearance and amusement aspect (3D cinema, bars, restaurants, a small lake with a beach and great playground for kids). It's a great place to visit (especially when You've got kids) and I had a luck with sunny weather during my trip to Krasiejow. Hope You'll enjoy it:

General overlook

Biggest models

Predators

And their preys
