Cabela's!

Is anyone as excited as I am about the new Cabela's slated to open next week in Lacey???? This is spurring some intense growth around Hawk's Prairie, and promises to be a huge regional draw. At 185,000 square feet, this will be an incredible addition to the retail landscape!

The intense growth pre-dates Cabelas. I remember the days when it was the "lesser" side of town with the landfill and Mushroom Farm. Now the area is home to golf courses and many upscale neighborhoods.

Yeah, Hawk's Prairie was growing before, you're right. But the developer of the land did give the plot to Cabela's because of the draw it would be, allowing him to lease the surrounding developments. 4 million visitors a year, I believe is projected.

I was blown away with the growth down there. Alot of sprawl, but Cabela's is going to draw alot of growth.

Thanks for passing growth management King County, without it, Hawks Prairie would still be a prairie! The area is a mega bedroom community for the Central Puget Sound. People couldn't resist being near the beach and the golf courses for under $300,000.

Why would they open a store there? Why not they just open it at somewhere else?

It's between Seattle and Portland, and Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks. It's a regional store meant for the Western Washington, SW British Columbia, and NW Oregon market. They are also building a Cabela's in Post Falls, ID to cover Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and Western Montana.

I drive past it on I-5 on my way to and from work. That place is HUGE.

Not really into hunting, but i'd go check it out just to see all that crazy camoflage clothing with all the moss/grass/leaves attached that they got in thier catalogue.
