Great idea for a thread! Can't believe I didn't come up with this myself - I am always very interested in any stadium developments in the uk. I take it you mean any kind of project, ie stands as well as whole stadiums?
Here's the plans for my local team Bristol City. This stand is due to be pulled down in 6months....... ![]() ....and replaced with this 5,300 seater taking capacity to 22,000

Leicester Tiger's Rugby Club stadium redevelopment with eventually 30,000 seats (depending on when they apply for planning permission and if they get it):

Lol beat me to it Gee. Go for a wee break to watch the end of Return of the Jedi and someone's put the Memorial stadium on there for me....
![]() The ground will rise in capacity from around 11,000 to 18,500. Work was due to begin next month but was put back to end of the season. |

What's wrong with the Stadiums and Sport Arena section!? Can this thread be locked, or something? I'm impressed by the rugby stadiums that are being built. Perhaps a new summary thread is needed for U.K rugby ground developments.

Well I'm not 100% sure on this but I went to watch the Falcons whilst in Newcastle earlier this year and their ground has been wholly redeveloped(does that count?), but I'm unsure as to whether they share it with any football clubs.
Why don't you get the new Cardiff ground on here James. Have they started building it yet? |

Now if your gonna go from decrepid old ground, to shiny new ground, then I doubt you'll find a better example!

Manchester was a great Rugby League city (Broughton Rangers, Swinton, Salford) and still gets 75,000 for the Grand Finals each year at Old Trafford. Salford can definitely follow my club, Hull FC who moved from our much loved but delapidated ground The Boulevard into the 25,000 seater KC Stadium. Our crowds have gone from 6000 to 14,000 average last season and a sell-out against Hull KR. We've won cups and been in Grand Finals. Salford is a heartland of the game with it's own formidable reputation. Their nickname 'Les Diables Rouges' (The Red Devils), was given by the French when they toured France in the 1930s but was famously knicked by Man Utd. With that stadium, pulling big crowds effectively as the Greater Manchester franchise I predict Salford will win the GF within 5 years. |
