Massive anti-cheating operation in the suburban transport system yesterday. If anyone doubted that the Gare du Nord station is a quite anarchic place, here's the proof: 1500 persons travelling withour ticked netted in 3 hours. https://fr.news.yahoo.com/paris-sncf...121647324.html.

^ the new president of the region has had it in her electoral programme that she's going to come down hard on ticketless travelers, I even read an article about it yesterday announcing the deployment of agents starting today.

Anyway in three hours during off peak Gare du Nord is used by several dozen of hundred of passengers, so 1,500 people represent a minority of passengers, less than 10%.

Of course. According to RATP it's around 7% of the passengers in the Paris region who travel without ticket. (In my view the percentage is probably a bit higher in the Gare du Nord, which serves some of the poorest suburbs.) However, I wouldn't consider 7% as a low percentage. In northern Europe the share of cheaters is, according to the statistics I have seen, generally in the range of 2.5% to 5%, so it's a lot of money that RATP and SNCF lose in this way.

Any percentage is too much when it comes to fare dodgers.
Not sure that is more than 7% in Gare du Nord because the 7% includes buses and trams where fare-dodging is higher than in the metro, REr and suburban trains.

Definitely heading out to Paris from London from 29 March to 1 April: is Paris Visite still good value when I am likely to travel all five zones on the RER A (if the MS 61 happens to go to Marne la Vallee)?

Buy a Navigo card and a one week subscription for zone 1-5 (now every subscription including zone 1 includes all other zones).
It costs €21.25 for the one week subscription and €5 for the card (you will need to put a photo on it).
Note that "one week" means Monday to Sunday but that's will be ok for your visit.

Buses? Really? I know there's a lot of cheating in the trams (to which we may add many people who have an abonnement but fail to validate it upon entry), but I would have thought it's relatively rare in buses. Basically you have to pass the driver who'd notice if you don't stamp a ticket or validate a navigo card.

Hi,
I will be in Paris for the last day of MS61 operation on the 9th April. I have a few queries:
-How many MS61s will operate on the day and where should I wait for one?
-A number of sources say you need a special ticket for the MS61s. Is this true? If so, where can you purchase one?
Thank you for your help.

I think that only one MS61 will operate but I don't have any other information, unfortunately.

Since the work is not complete, it is a bit too early to judge.

According to the Twitter of RER A, the date of the last run of the MS 61 has been delayed to 16 April 2016.

Will there still be MS61s on the 9th though? Otherwise that has ruined my Paris trip.

I will also be spotting the MS61 but I cannot guarantee that it will run after 31 March.
