Alstom gets a 75M euro contract for the refurbishment of 31 old trains on line B: http://bfmbusiness.bfmtv.com/entrepr...b-1095974.html

The oldest of these trains have entered service in 1985. The first refurbished ones will be available in 2019.

Longitudinal seating means less seats and more standing space. I think these trains seem to have the balance right between sections dedicated to longer distance travellers who sit down and short distance ones who use the decks with more standing space. By comparison, the Z50000 trains ("Francilien") focus on seating with exclusively bay seating and that's a problem at rush hour.

Alstom to refurbish Paris RER Line B trains
06 Feb 2017

FRANCE: Paris public transport authority RATP has selected Alstom to renovate up to 41 MI84 four-car electric multiple-units in service on Line B of the Paris RER network. The €75m contract is expected to be approved by Ile-de-France transport authority STIF on March 22.

The base order covers 31 trainsets, with the first two due to be completed in 2019. Work will take place at Alstom’s Reichshoffen site and will include an increase in seating capacity from 216 to 312 seats per car. Other internal changes will include new floors, grab bars, LED lighting and CCTV. Air-conditioning will be installed, electronic equipment replaced and a new external livery applied

A few weeks ago I took some photos at Bécon-les-Bruyères, from up on the new footbridge; sorry for the late posting.

A few months ago I was nothing they didn't seem to have planned elevators for the footbridge, but I was indeed wrong and right now they are in advanced stages of their installation.

Is the refurbishment and extension of the Asnière's side station still planned ?
Because nothing happened on this side for months... and the end on the works was planned in 2017 so ?

^ I went again today and looked at the information pannels to see what they say, the project is still supposed to be done according to the panels. Technically they still have time to finish until November 8 this year, but in reality they haven't even started digging:

^ nice. I was wondering wether old doubledeckers will be replaced by new doubledeckers or by single deck trains like the Z50000.

Connection between Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est.

Two things are planned.
Improving the connection at street level between the two stations and the construction of a tunnel

...

1 - Improving pedestrian travel

This first aspect is based on rue d'Alsace and rue de Dunkirk, with work on pedestrian traffic and improvement of signage.
Work on the surrounding of the Magenta station will also be realized. Its square could be redeveloped, there are studies on a building SNCF located nearby on 50 rue d'Alsace. This sector of convergence between stations could make possible to open Gare de l'Est with Gare du Nord.

2 - Creating an underground link

The second major point of the project is to connect two tunnels: the Château-Landon tunnel, which crosses all the platforms of Gare de l'Est, and the tunnel under the Magenta station to the platforms of Gare du Nord.
Château-Landon tunnel now allows access via stairs to the platforms of the Gare de l'Est. It would be renovated, and elevators would be built, as far as possible, to access certain platforms of the Gare de l'Est from the tunnel for people with reduced mobility.
By digging an additional 60 meters of tunnel under Rue La Fayette, a large subterranean link to Gare du Nord would be built.

Renovation of Auber.

That's it, Auber will be renovated.
Work should be done by 2022. The station will keep most of its original style.

There will be a change of floors on the platforms and in the main concourse, with a tiled floor covering. The lighting will be redesigned.
To optimize the space, the project aims to remove dark nooks and crannies.
Paris transit autorities wishes to highlight Auber's heritage by using Briare enamels (original material) to best match the exceptional volumes of the station and to retain the original colors (red and blue).

Val de Fontenay
Presentation of redevelopment projects for Val de Fontenay.
By 2030, the traffic of the station (today served by the RER A and E) will greatly increase with the arrival of two metro lines (lines 1 and 15), tram T1 and the development of surrounding neighborhood.

The station must be redesigned

Hello, I have some Paris RER questions I should want to post here.

RAPT web page doesn't run at all.
Has anyone price for tickets?.
Is it compulsory to buy one per one or can I buy 10 tickets kit or so?. Are they children reduction or same fare?

I guess should I make any journey Ile de France-Paris, enough to ask a ticket to Paris and commuting will be free for metro but, conversely, should I start in a metro station, whay may I ask to commute to a RER outside of Paris?

Thanks in advance

Alejandro

Hi Alejandro!

A simple ticket ("ticket t+") allows you to take all the metro network (even the metro outside of Paris) and/or RER into Paris (zone 1 only).
With a single ticket you can use both metro and RER-zone-1.
But be careful with buses: no bus and metro/RER with the same ticket.

A simple ticket costs 1,90 €. A book of 10 tickets costs 14,5 €. If your child is under 10, you can buy a reduced price 10 tickets: 7,25 €

If you want to go out of Paris zone 1 (using train or RER to CDG airport, Versailles, Disneyland, etc.) or if you want to make a trip from and to the suburbs, you'll have to buy a specific ticket at your station of departure.
You can buy up to 10 tickets and there is also a reduced price.
If you buy it in a metro station, you'll be allowed to use the metro and then the logical train or RER line. Same for your return ("Paris" on a ticket means you can use all metro-in-and-out-of-Paris and RER-into-Paris lines you want).

You can also buy a daily pass. All fares and tickets information are here:
http://www.vianavigo.com/en/tickets-...vel-documents/

If needed, ask for explanations at an information desk.
Don't be afraid if they don't look friendly, they are just Parisians, but they will help, really

Thank you for your information.

I guess I will make several inner Paris trips, thus a 10 tickets carnet will be useful.
I am planning to hire a touristic bus and there are several stops near the place I will be on. That will save me all metro tickets those days I will use it.

For RER... are all tickets as single or can I buy 10 tickets or so?. Are same fares for all ages?

Thx in advance

You can buy up to 10 tickets to go to a specific RER station or a train station in Paris' region.
If you buy 10 tickets at once, you'll get a discount, something like 20%.
There is also reduced fares for children less than 10yo (same 50% discount than the simple ticket t+).

Thank you, let's count.... 3 return tickets for 3 adults (12 tickets) and 3 return tickets for a child.

Therefore I guess I may buy a 10 tickets plus 2 single tickets (is return ticket cheaper?) and... does it deserve to buy a 10 tickets instead of 6 single tickets for a child?

It would be for Zones 1-5

RAPT web doesn't run to calculate it

The RATP website is running for me, including the English or Spanish version. Try this, it will tell you if it's a problem at your end: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

If you tell me the stations you want to reach, I can look up how much it costs.
