Let me take a wild guess...Birmingham?

Very nice pics, BTW. Looks like a beautiful city.

I agree. I was in Tulsa last year and I was really suprised that it had a decent skyline. No offense or anything to Tulsans but I was just not expecting it. The people were friendly and I was talking to a local that was saying that oil industry which once flourished there, moved to Houston. Tulsa's history was very interesting.

I would also like to add Providence, RI. Nice and scenic, great downtown. Same goes for White Plains, NY. I loved those places.

IMO the city depictured below could qualify as a gem:

Hope you liked em, it's really a peaceful yet lively neat city on the Central Coast.

I very much enjoyed your pics.
Very beautiful city
Gotta love those green "hills" (we'd call 'em mountains out here ).
But yeah man.....very pretty scenery surrounding San Luis Obispo.

I've been all over the USA and Europe and San Antonio is simply amaizing, restaurants and shops everywhere, icecream shops, a great mall, all along the riverwalk.

I started on the part of the riverwalk that has hotels and condos along the river, but no restaurants or anything. As we walked up we went into the loop part where all the restaurants, shops, etc are.

All development along the river walk integrates parks, plazas and other nice things into the entry way.

You can spend all day walking the whole river walk and they are extending it another 13 miles.

here's a start

OK, does anything exist in San Antonio beyond the Riverwalk? And how many people have fallen into the river since it appears that quite a few stretches don't have any barriers between the sidewalk and the river itself.

I agree San Antonio is a gem (particularly downtown), but it certainly is not "hidden". I read about it all the time in travel magazines and there have been a fair amount of documentary shows made about the riverwalk.

In my travels around the country I found these towns - they are especially charming and quaint and very livable!

1. Midwest - Woodstock, IL : pretty little city and county seat. This was where they filmed the Bill Murray movie "Groundhog Day." I think they used it because the town is just so lovely and "all-American" ... of course the lead couple fall in love and decide to move to this beautiful spot.

2. New England - Woodstock, Vt: typifies the white scrubbed-clean yet historic charm of the New England village. Actually a very wealthy community with one of the highest per capita incomes of any of the towns in the state. A really lovely town in which tourists passing through (like me!) just HAVE to stop and check out!

3. NY State - Woodstock, NY: a funky little upstate town where all the graying and ageing hippies go to retire and open New Age shops and victorian Bed-N-Breakfasts. Bonus: check out the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery on the mountain overlooking the town! And, NO!, the famous music fest of 1969 did not take place here!

4. The South - Woodstock, GA: Just kidding! I was getting carried away with places named "Woodstock" !!!!!!!!

5. Princeton, NJ - considered by many the most beautiful college campus in America. The town is absolutely charming - lots of cafes, restaurants, bookshops, music stores, galleries. Set in the rolling hills of west central New Jersey ... 1 hour drive to New York and less than 1 hour to Philly.

6. Hollywood, FL - not a small town but a city with over 130,000 population. Location? Right in between Miami and Fort Lauderdale! It's beaches are as good or better than it's more famous neighbors. Hollywood's small downtown comes alive at night with all kinds of nightclubs, jazz joints, bars, ethnic restaurants. Residential neighborhoods are clean and yet tropical - palm trees everywhere! No wonder Donald Trump decided to build a super luxury condo tower here!

Exactly! San Antonio is the most visited city in TX; however, I have to thank aliendroid for great pictures of this beautiful city.
