U.S.

Longest freeway route - I-90, 3,099 mi (4,987 km). It's segmented, though, and I don't know what the absolute longest highway without breaks is.
Tunnel: Central Artery in Boston (I-93) - 3.5 mi (5.6 km)
Bridge: Lake Ponchartrain Causeway, New Orleans - 26.87 mi (38.42 km)
Stretch without exits: I-70 in Utah - 108 mi (174 km)
Highway duplex: I-80/I-90 in Indiana and Ohio: 278 mi (447 km)

Shortest route: I-878, NYC - .7 mi (1.1 km)

Oldest freeway: Pennsylvania Turnpike, 1940

Widest freeway: I-5/I-405, Los Angeles - 26 lanes
Widest separation between directions: Not sure, but might be I-24 - 1.75 mi (2.82 km)

btw, In Europe it's about 45 km, somewhere in Spain...

Yep, when I-70 was built, it took a completely new route through then little-known territory, unlike most Interstates that paralleled existing routes.

Yeah, our tunnels are a little puny. However, we still have the highest one at 11,158 ft (3408 m).

I've tried to count lanes, but i've got lost. It's not ordinary 2x13, but if you count all lanes on parallel carriageways, it might be 26 in part of the road with inscription "Santa Ana Fwy" near Bake Pkwy.

EDIT: Two more pictures from LA. As far as i know, this junction is the place immortalized in Red Hot Chili Peppres' "Under the Bridge" song.

You liar. You know it was opened on December 31, 1972, one day after the first Slovenian motorway.

I believe that that's not really an interstate. It's a state route.

Most of it is a state route, but there is an unsigned segment that is officially an Interstate highway. Thus why it's only 3/4 mi.

The normal roadway isn´t wider then 2x5 lanes or something. They count all merging and entrance lanes too. LA doesn´t have extremely wide freeways, a lot are 2x5, but much wider is not that common.

Are you sure? my road atlas doesn't give a longer stretch then 25 miles between exit 91 and exit 116 on the I-70.

However, it shows the I-80 with a 58 mile stretch between Exit 4 (Wendover) and exit 62 (road to nowhere) through the Great Salt Lake Desert.

What about the I-895 in New York City, that's less than a mile too. It connects I-278 with I-95 in Bronx.

Well, I don't know a german AUTOBAHNtunnel which is longer than that beside the Rennsteigtunnel which I mentioned and the longest in Croatia is only 160m longer.
