They have to be some of the nicest looking rolling stock on any metro system worldwide I would say...

Though they might not have the same amount of features in terms of LED screens inside as the Tokyo Metro 13000, 15000 or 16000 stock, they still have much nicer looks.

Question:
What is the fastest and most efficient way to travel to and from:
1) Munich Airport
and
2) BMW World and Museum

Munich Airport Station <-> Olympia Park Station

On the BMW World website, the instructions suggest that from the Airport train station, I travel all the way to Marienplatz (in the city center), then change to U-bahn U3 line then travel onwards from there.

However, can't I just use the S1 line from the Visitors Park then just make the change from Moosach station to get to the BMW facility?

MUNICH | Public Transport

Sure you can. Actually the map you have shows the Moosach-Olympiazentrum still under construction, but it is finished by now.

This is also the routing the S-Bahn app shows so no need to go all the way to Marienplatz.

Munich subway, trams and buses shutdown completely for the first time in the last 80 years or so after a German-Iranian opened a gunfire yesterday next to a shopping mall killing ten people including himself. http://www.vocativ.com/344204/munich...-after-attack/

By now, public transport has resumed service but the OEZ subway station is still closed.

Underground line U3 will be suspended between "Münchner Freiheit" and "Scheidplatz" due to construction works from 31/10/2016 till 31/03/2017. Trains on the U3 will terminate at "Münchner Freiheit". Underground station "Bonner Platz" will be closed and can be reached by replacement bus service.

In addition U8 will operate to "Moosach" instead of "Olympiazentrum" and U7 will operate to "Olympia-Einkaufszentrum" instead of "Westfriedhof":

The new futuristic Siemens Inspiro C2 trains of Munich Transport Corporation (MVG) operate now on underground line U6 between Klinikum-Großhadern and Garching-Forschungszentrum. The district government of Upper Bavaria approved the permission for operating on the whole line:

Tram line 25 from Max-Weber-Platz to Berg am Laim Bf. opened today. Almost half of extension (from Max-Weber-Platz to Einsteinstr. tram stops) uses existing service tracks to Einsteinstraße depot:

Second suburban cross rail Munich goes U/C

Munich is not promoted on this board but this is worth to mention:

Second suburban cross rail goes U/C today. The project is at expected costs of 3.800 million euros and includes 3 new large deep underground stations. The total lenght of the new suburban rail route will be 10 km of which 7 km will be bored 2 tunnels diameter 8,40 m each.

One option for service once finished was also published recently:

Damn, 9 years for a 7 kilometer long tunnel.

It must be the deep level stations that takes up much of the construction time because in Copenhagen we have a 7,5 kilometer, 5 station extension (completely in tunnels) of the metro that has started civil work this year and has a completion date of 2023.

S-Bahn type suburban railway is more costly than standard subway or underground light rail. Platform length is 240 m and the diameter of the bored tunnel will be 8,40 m. Plus the building within the massive dense urban structers of the city center makes it complicated and resultes in platform depths of 40 m. This means the excavations are rather large and there must be a lot of support by ground injection taken into account to build under already existing tunnels. Maybe concerns and the resulting design regarding fire protection became also very tight in Germany.
