In the next few years they have a plan to restore the un-used segments as Breza-Vares (at least for freight) and Zivinice-Zvornik (which was completed just before the war but never used) the priority now is to rehabilitate the existing lines (Vc and doboj-bl) and electrification of doboj-tuzla and brcko-banovici. There have always been plans to continue the line from banovici to vares (breza) but that will not happen soon.

thx for answering...
it will be amazing to see those trains running through hills to Vares if not cause of passengers, then freight could be very profitable as there are still raw materials to pull out...

Were there any damage to trains and railways by Serbs during the 1990s Bosnian War?

I liked the new trains. They are very nice. They should also upgrade the network as most of it is single-track and follows a serpentine course

Hi,

We've been to Ovčari in May, here are the best pictures we took: http://www.benbe.hu/categories/benbe...govina.441.php

Here are the rest of the pictures from Bosnia (and some from Croatia):
http://www.benbe.hu/categories/train...govina_eng.php

Enjoy!

Do you know anything new about the new trains? Where will be they operated? What happened with the ÖBB Talent testing?

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Doubts about EUR 85m railway upgrade

On the 13th of August, Bosnian media reported, that Slovenian construction group GH Holding and Austrian company Swietelsky will upgrade 164 km of railways in Bosnia and Herzegovina. However on the next day BHZJK denied this information.

The project, aimed at increasing the speed limit of the routes, is worth EUR 85m.

On the 14th of August, Dragan Calovic, the director of Railways of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHZJK), informed, that tenders for the reconstruction of railway tracks in Republic of Srpska from Josavka near Celinec to Kostajnica near Doboj and the tracks in BH Federation from Konjic to Capljina have not ended yet.

He denied media reports and said, that the winner of the tender will not be known until the end of August.
