Tower Verre looks more than twice as tall as the Museum Tower there.

I think it's pretty accurate, but it's a bit tricky with the perspective.

This tower while nice looking, will have little effect on Manhattan's growing skyline.

It will still be the best designed skyscraper in NYC since the Chrysler in my opinion, that's good enough for me.

It's really nice, but imho beekman is better. 107 West 57th is also going to be one of the best.

Beekman is great although it would be near perfect, if:

1. all sides had a wavy facade.
2. the tower had some sort of crown.
3. it was a supertall.

Actually I like the fact that one side is flat, it "brakes" the design nicely and makes it more interesting. The same idea is used in tour phare design which hopefully will be build one day.

My top 5 new towers would be
1) tower verre
2) 2WTC (whenever it gets built)
3) Steinway
4) 56 Leonard
5) a tie between NY by Ghery and the Hearst tower

Not necessarily a bad thing, only in the beastliest of skylines would an 1050 foot building look just like any other

This tower is to thin at the top to make much of an impact

Agree. A 1,050ft tall 4WTC style building would have an effect on the Midtown skyline.

True.. if you put The Shard in Manhattan, it would not stand out, but it will be gem in NYC nonetheless just like the taller Tower Verre.

One Small Move
An engineer suggests that the Museum of Modern Art could move the American Folk Art Museum building, rather than raze it to make room for its expansion.

I still say the interior isn't worth saving. If people are so in love with the bronze facade, then remove it and re-install it elsewhere.

The shard would indeed work well in Manhattan as it's a beautiful building (from my visit last year). It would be amazing at 1400 feet though on the location where Vanderbilt tower is going to be. It's a tower that needs to stand out and be above the fray. It would look so so in midtown at the current height. Verre is a bit more Gotham anyway and fits in better in upper midtown despite it's relatively small skyline impact.

just saw this on NYIMBY, pretty nice drawings, tho TV looks quite a bit shorter than it will be.

Nice drawings! TV is a little short but keep in mind it's also behind those buildings

That's right it's on 53rd street and keep in mind going east around that area street level goes downhill gradually.
