I wonder why they're going with 53w53? Tower Verre sounds more memorable.

As long as this stays in the Prep section, I can still hope for a miracle that prevents it from being build...

Because luxury buildings in NYC rarely have formal names, and instead use addresses.

And the address would obviously be more memorable, because it's unique. The same building name can be used in Shanghai, Dubai or New York. A name like "the Park Grande" or something could be anywhere on the planet. But you cannot replicate an exact Manhattan address anywhere else on earth.

It's already under construction, and the condos are already being marketed.

Ah, how I love these generalizations and prejudgement (sarcasm)

Actually I like NYC. I like it so much that I really care about what is being build there in the future. And that's why I don't want Tower Verre to happen. To me it is the aesthetically least pleasing design of all propoesed NYC buildings.
NYC better goes with simple, modern, minimalistic style like the new WTC, Hudson Yards, Nordstrom tower...

I don't disagree with you, but Mahattan deserves its gems here and there, and Tower Verre's tapering form and sharp edges are unlike any supertall currently proposed for the city

Or any city. It's one of a kind and its nearest architectural neighbor is probably the Transamerica Pyramid.

Those will always be a vast majority, and I don't think an artsy tower here and there hurts that as a whole, really. NYC has a healthy sense of architectural variety everywhere you look, a lot of different styles, and while I'm not Tower Verre's biggest fan, I think it will look like it properly belongs in the city.

Verre is really needed to contrast the 90 degree angles.

I am really jealous of NYC with this one. This should be a Chicago design it's dark facade, angles, steps, and structural expressionism would fit well with Hancock and Sears. Damn you NYC this one is a beauty.

I really I'm surprised it took this long to build. But it's worth the wait.
