I feel like I have been waiting for this day for a long time. Just how long I wondered. Since this thread was created I have gone through half of high school, all of college, and am now in graduate school. It is amazing how much has changed in my life while I've been coming back to this thread year after year.

I think it will be worth the wait.

Within 10 years (2010 to 2020) New York's skyline has changed so much and may change even more. With Hudson Yards, 432 Park Avenue, One 57, World Trade Center, 56 Leonard st, 111 west 57th st and Nordstrom Tower, dubai and New York are growing so much

So exciting to see this in the u/c forums! I have been (as I'm sure many have) waiting to see this one u/c for years.

I really love New York's architecture and skyline. I think it's one of the best in the world.

I know it's a bummer but it's still a 1050' building and stunningly gorgeous to boot. It'll certainly have an impact in that immediate area.

anti-climatic at this point after they chopped the top 20% off and the other beauties around it are getting built. this is on the verge of being fancy filler i'm afraid. Never liked it anyway to be honest. Didn't it catch fire in SF back in the day?

Isn't it amazing? A 1050' a work of art supertall a filler? This proves how NYC has evolved in design and height. It's funny with all the supertalls currently going and planned, I'm beginning to think One57 is a decent filler.

We are on the verge having 3 amazing towers built with Verre, Steinway and hopefully 2 WTC not far behind. I'm stoked.

I am very happy to see this finally starting! I was drooling over the design when I first saw it a while back, and even if its scaled back a tad, 1050' is nothing to sneeze at, and this will really add to the quality of the skyline.

Once the caissons are done and the mat is poured and hardened, then this should rise pretty quickly!

Heh, this is certainly a positive spin, but I think everyone here would take the 1250' version in a heartbeat.

Frankly, Hines should be beyond pissed, even now. Given the astronomical sales prices of some comparable nearby developments, the whims of one planning official could potentially cost them hundreds of millions of dollars.

I agree 1000% but I'm just glad finally this thing is set to rise. It's a great tower even at its current height.
