Its weird to think that this short little building in nyc would be the tallest if it was to be built in london instead

Well the Shard in London is the tallest building in the EU at 310 m, but the tallest in Europe currently is Mercury City in Moscow at 339 m. Once Federation Tower in Moscow is finished it will be the tallest building in Europe at ~373 m.

Russia is going to hold the title for the tallest building in Europe with those buildings. As for the EU, I think something taller is currently planned for Paris, the Hermitage plaza at 323m.

Problem with Paris is their policy not to build higher than the Eiffel Tower.

The problem with Paris was the Tour Montparnasse. When that was built, people freaked out.

And continued to complain about "how much it stood out", while forbidding the constructions of other skyscrapers in that area...

I just noticed: In the renderings you can see that there is a gap between diagonal beams and the facade. So the facade just mimics the structure.

Great design, loved its apparent steelframe.

Any blueprints of the apartments?

(After the height was scaled back):
Quote:
Residential apartment space has been expanded in the new plan, and moved down a few floors, occupying floor 14 through 74. The apartments will vary in size, and include duplex and triplexes. A restaurant will occupy the ground floor of the 53rd street building.
