Re crowning: you wear your crown, if that's your habit, on your head not your feet.
As for a child crowning during birth it is the head that appears not the feet.
So crowning means reaching its full height.

I really want to see this finished.. because to me this is one of those towers that the renderings do not give you the feeling of how this is gonna look when finished.

A good analogy was made with reference to this building finally being seen above ground level, or "crowning."

Please stop arguing about the definition of a word which literally has dozens of definitions, #45 on dictionary.com being the verb "to crown": Medicine/Medical (of a baby in childbirth) to reach a stage in delivery where the largest diameter of the fetal head is emerging from the pelvic outlet.

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/crown?s=t

Now please move on.

Thanks for the photo, ILNY.

English language expert, Mom?
I might be - with an aversion to people stuffing around with word meanings.
In your quoted definition you missed the significance of the word 'head'.

Back to the building in question: in case you missed it, Atelier Nouvel's recent project in Sydney, Central Park Towers, collected a few local and international awards in the past year or so. I expect Tour Verre will pick up a few in a couple of years on completion, and deservedly so.

This building doesn't seem to have a core.

It has an "outside core" similar to the John Hancock Tower in Chicago. Look at the renderings.

You missed the significance of the word "analogy."

noun, plural analogies.
1. a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based: the analogy between the heart and a pump.

While this won't be as tall as many of the other new buildings currently U/C, it will still make its presence known on the skyline. It should help that it's not located directly on 57th.

If anything it will be just included in the view, it's no Metlife Building.
