Itīs height was cut because it shouldnīt because it was too close to the ESB and too close to overshadow it. Given all the new development, itīs even more sad this will fall this short, but then again, better this then nothing.

Stop whining about the height, freak out about the crazy cool constriction photos. This thing will be unbelievable.

I'm not too fussed about the height. It'll be a gem in the same way that Chrysler is

True, but the original was still better and with 1250ft, it would stand out much more.

...Not necessary:The Chrysler is 1046ft high and, also, the 53rd street is not that wide.At 1050ft you can ideally appreciate the design from the ground.
This tower is not supposed to be a skyline maker;it's way more than that!

Does anyone know what will be the "black color" on the tower?
Is it going to be a metal cladding or what?

53W53 Rising in Midtown Manhattan

Quote:
Developed by Hines, and designed via a collaboration of Jean Nouvel Design and SLCE Architects, the tower is directly adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and will feature additional gallery space on the second, fourth, and fifth floors, with residents given special MoMA privileges as part of the perks associated with this development.

What will go where the former MOMA extension was? I hope the exposed wall is not left like that.
