nice, they're continuing the cladding. There was only one row above the base when I walked past Friday. This is going to be such a Gothic beauty.

god, they really ruined this thing with the redesign...
this plastic-looking, hudson yardish cladding can't stand up to the exposed steel originally proposed (ah and that old crown 0

Interesting, the diagonals on the bottom floors are more expressed, they extrude a few inches out from the window's plane while further up they're almost flush with the rest of the curtain wall. How are they gonna meet in the middle?

I think the outer face of the column and diagonal cladding is always on the same plane throughout the height of the tower. It is the windows that are recessed in the lower portions of the tower and at some point, transition outwards to be flush with the cladding.

Love this. An abstract John Hancock. So New York. Definitely the best new tower in the city for some time.

The building next to this one with the FT sign is the 1330 6th avenue "Financial Times" tower which is 151,8m tall at 40 floors. If you do the maths then Tower Verre is currently at a height of 129,03m. It already looks tall but it still has 190,97m to rise above itīs neighbors. Incredible.

I wonder if they're gonna paint over that spot where they took one of 1330's signs off? That tower looks like it's got a bald patch now, not good!

Dumb question but is the W 53rd side considered the front of the building now? I always felt like the W 54th side to be the front because of all the renderings.

It's called 53W53, not 54W54.

Oh I'm aware of that. I was just wondering because of the renderings most of them seem to be viewed from W 54th, so naturally I thought that was the front of the building. In my opinion the W 53rd side looks more like the rear to me. But still beautiful either way.

A few weeks ago i came across this article about Rem Koolhaas unbuilt NYC projects, that while browsing this thread has crossed my mind again.

https://www.6sqft.com/as-rem-koolhaa...ilt-proposals/

One of them was his idea of a MOMA expansion, which looks like this.

Copyright: Rem Koolhaas & 6sqft

I feel something slightly fishy with Jeanīs innovative design here.
