The glass panels on the sides of the crown being a different color/backing than the panels on the rest of the sides of the building is hideous and completely inexcusable, and the vertical striped cladding on the Midtown face of the building should have been replicated on the Park face.

Those two choices were arguably worse and more dumbfounding than the smooth side of 8 Spruce Street and that damn mechanical floor on The Aqua in Chicago.

Those offending panels do change color and blend better depending on the time of day or how the sun hits them....

The top 100 feet of One 57 is hideous and mix-match cladding is grotesque. I love the shape however and think it looks good from CP. It's just from the east and west where it's quite ugly.

The shape is amazing, but the shape also makes me wish the tower was clad in limestone and brushed steel framed windows.

I think had they just used this cladding all around it would have been perfect.

Just look at the contrast between that, and this;

... I get why they went for a different look on the flat sides, to contrast with the curved setbacks on the front, but I don't think it works. The stripes would have been brilliant on the sides as well. Or even one solid color.

It's supposed to be the spray of the waterfall, but it looks kinda lame, especially those different colored few panes at the very top. WTF?

The shape is interesting. But the different window colors is too much of a mess.

I think those vertical stripes on the sides would have clashed with the curves at the top. It would've been nice if they went with a solid, dark colour for those sides

A random noise... What's meaningful in it? Exactly zero - no purpose, no idea.

It would have looked nice if the cladding on the sides of the tower would gradually fade from the darkish blue colour to the light blue tone.

I'm super pumped for this building even as they build taller buildings. Design is always most important. I like that 432 is as tall as it is but the design sux.
