I was kidding. Actually, I don't think New York needs any hypertalls, just more artistic and creative towers like Vere, Steinway, Flatbush, etc. I'd rather see more value placed in art than height. Let China and Dubai build their Babels.

There are few places with enough FAR to build that tall anyway. Maybe Penn Station, if it is ever knocked down would be a good place. This is ssc, so everyone wants a hypertall. Although I agree, i'd be fine with far more progressive design (although fewer of those retro inspired towers, more futuristic towers). Certainly the Park is sacred and will most likely never be touched given the history of it, and the protection mindset about it.

A white, horizontal skyscraper? Or should I say seascraper?

I can not imagine myself travelling on such ugly thing...

In the mix, with all the other towers, I forget how tall 432Park really is. But from this vantage it reminds me how insane that building actually is.

To put things in perspective, just imagine having a similar sized tower in its spot, for example, one WTC or even Jin Mao tower or HK's IFC. Isn't that crazy how awesome our mind is?

so in the pic, it's just a little taller than Hearst tower from this angle and distance meaning, it's approaching 200-meter benchmark very soon

At the height as seen in the pic, I don't see that to have happened yet, and that pic was taken on Nov, 11 as seen on Flickr. Given Hearst tower is at 182, CPT has to be significantly taller had it gone past that point. Also, CPT is at slightly higher elevation, I assume.
