Not great quality pic. But you can see it peaking behind the Citigroup tower.

If anything gets to take away this view, it ought to be this...

probably encroaching 900' by now. Citigroup is 915', but is further away from that perspective.

How i wish Verre was at least 400m Its a little sad that you cant really experience its full beauty when you're further away cause of all those buildings blocking like half of its height .

The original 1250' height would have elevated it so much over the rest of the midtown plateau. At least it somewhat sticks out. This tower is pretty much dead center midtown so anything under 900' simply won't have any skyline presence.

In the future if more development occurs at 8th avenue, Verre might become invisible from the Jersey side. It wonīt be much visible from Queens too. And from the WTC it will be mostly blocked by 30 Rockefeller Plaza. I still find Brewers argumentfor the height cut stupid, especially if you consider that at the same time, they must have been negotiations for aproval of 432, CPT and Steinway. Or are all of these as off right lots, was Verre as of right and just got a lot of pressure by Nimbys? I find NYC to have way too many people with egoistic views who hinder progress. Sure i can understand that you donīt wanna live right across a construction site for years, but this is the price you have to pay for living in Manhattan. The other aspect is simply greed, cause a new tower blocks views and you lose money for your property. But thatīs another price to pay and the risk you take when investing in the big apple. I also hate the stupidity of the Empire State argument with Tower Verre. I was at the ESB, I saw it in real life it is a very nice building with a lot of grace. But itīs already 87 years old. While I see the reason people wanna keep it the king, I also find that our generation needs space to create itīs kings. And as youc an see with 432 , the ESB didnīt lose any dominance, even the Huzdson Yards just add to it. The only development that will challange it are the Meganon building on 5th, and 15 Penn Plaza. But i also see a good change that a nice cluster around the ESB might elevate itīs presence. For isntance, I like how 101 Marina is surrounded by itīs neighbors in the tallest block and gets an emphasis rather being a standalone tower. So i leave myself open how the new NY skyline will affect the ESB, the city and hopefully we are going to get a megatall here when the time is ripe for it.

Verre was proposed too early. If we were talking heights of 950, 1004, 1398, 1401, 1436, and 1550 feet in Midtown back then, it would have gone through at full height no problem. We're lucky the financial crisis didn't kill it, so i'll take what we got.

I always thought Verre deserved to be the tallest building in the city and those pictures enhance that sentiment even more. There’s really nothing out there that stands out like this one does in terms of design. It should’ve stood out more in terms of height.
That said it got built and it surely didn’t disappoint so I can’t complain too much.
