Yes, and this beautiful mega-sculpture will be the main attraction of the Museum Of Modern Art.

Seriously, if the council reject this proposal, this will be a big missed opportunity for New York to renew its skyline and maintain its position as the greatest skyscrapers city. If this piece of art is not built in New York, it will be built elsewhere...

The location is perfect. Frickin perfect. Not only would Midtown have a new peak to add to the Bank of America, but along with the West Side developments, and the Financial District's incredible additions, ehhhhh NVM dont wanna jinx it.

Anyone want to guess what the real motivation is for the NIMBY's opposing this is? Such unscrupulous people would obviously lie about what's bothering them so I wonder what their real angle is.

They want to have the most expensive property on the block. They want sunlight. They think they have a right to the views they have. They believe that because they paid a lot of money for their apartment that they deserve the status quo of the area. Etc.

Alas, maybe a few of the imbeciles just plain hate America/NY and want to see it rot and suffer, not continue to develope and gain world-class skyscrapers (sometimes I think it's the only excuse); many of them are old and grumpy, and therefore would rather die before letting even a slight change happen, and some of them are just plain stuck up and/or think it's cool to be anti-development in an area with tall buildings, even though it's, as they say, a "low-rise" area. It can get bad because they may pay outsides to go against certain projects.

I thought they wanted this building dead because they're use to killing other tall buildings. I can see them now, telling there friends. It a never get built I help kill six buildings like it. They don't build this thing unless we give them the go ahead, we run new york now. Eat it Nimby

Chances get better that it will rise. I wonder what the city will say soon.

The expanded museum space should take up the first 7 or so floors of the proposed tower.

I looked around, but I can't find any renders of the building actually in the skyline. Anyone have one?

The cladding will be a big part of this building success.

I agree about the googling, but "whala"? Is that French?

By the way... why isn't Tour de Verre in the title of this thread?

Agree, the MoMA expansion only makes up the first three floors of this 75-story tower. The title should be changed. It is also written "MoMA".
