Oh no!! This is like a pile of junk...what a waste. I hope they go back to Nouvel's design.

Don't worry, it was just some crackpot "architect's" design that he presented at an open meeting. Nouvel's actually has funding and support, and it is the one that will be built if anything is.

I don´t understand you guys, why you hate it so much! I like it very much, beautyful with all these colors, it looks so alive! I think its time to start think different, I can see all these new skyscrapers starting to look like eachother, with this grey neutral color, it looks so dead.

Gimme more of this!!

You have a point there, and I hope this will be built somehere, but the Nouvel proposal is still very elegant , slender and very tall.

it's not a horrible design on it's own merit... it's horrible because it's trying to replace TOWER VERRE!

The building is actually 1,250 feet (381 meters) tall and 85 floors, someone should change the title

I like the trash-design more. The design of nouvel looks like a cold and grey headquarter of an evil scientist and by far not that elegant, like some people tell in this thread. Its just another butt-penetrator perfect to be build in dubai, getting fans by heigh and not really by design. The trash-design would be more a tourist attraction than the evil-secientist-tower. At start the people will hate it, like Paris Population hated the eiffel-tower. But in 10 Years ... great.

John Beckmann's skyscraper look a lot like the Antilia skyscraper u/c in Mumbai.

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=474035

I like the Beckmann proposal, because it's rethinking the skyscraper from being glass and steel with razorsharp edges to something more organic. A vertical city where greenery is present, not only at ground level, but all the way up.

The exterior walkways also motivates people to explore and the casual spectator needs more than a quick glance to figure this building out. Add solar cells and some way to harvest the energy from the wind and you will have a tower with a strong environmental statement .

I can appreciate thinking outside the box, but a building still has to look nice.

And that abomination definitely doesn't look nice.
