That is just a very poor qaulity render. The developer should be able to do better than that.

I'm happy to see such approval for it from you guys. As far as I can remember it had some serious opposition in its early stages, in my eyes unjustified though. Sure, it looks eccentric and unusual, but if you look at it from another point it's very organic and natural in its shape yet sharp and technical in its frame exterior.

Still saddened by the reduction in height, further that after the height of this building was reduced, appeared several proposals including others buildings with a height bigger that when this building was designed (like the 432 park place, 225 West 57th etc). But I'm glad that this building will be built soon, no doubt is a door to the future and hope to see more buildings like this in a few years.

432 Park and 225 W 57th are being built as of right. Unlike those towers, Torre Verre required the transfer of air rights from non-contiguous parcels, and, therefore, it required NYC LPC approval.

Yes, I even thought about putting this in my review , "While these other towers will be built as right".

But I would like to mention in my review, which (perhaps) if this tower was proposed today, with so many tall buildings being proposed, Amanda Burden might not have done it ("crying" for cutting height).

Anyway I am happy that this building will be built.

I'll bet that she still would do it. She would cut the other towers if she could.

I don't know why I didn't post this earlier in the week, but I was up at the site again on Tuesday I want to say, maybe Wednesday, and there were workers on site again and the pilling machine had moved, and was working on a slightly different area of the site.

No workers on site anywhere today that I saw being the day after Thanksgiving, except for 51 Astor oddly.

I think it would be taller than that. That tall, black and white, building at the right, the Sollow Building is 689 feet / 210 meters tall. The black, tall building at the left border of the picture, the Burlington House is 625 feet / 191 meters tall.

The Tower Verre, at 1050 ft / 320 m. would be 360 ft / 110 meters taller than Sollow and more than 400 feet or 130 meters taller than Burlington House. That's more than one and a half times the height of both buildings.

In the picture it only seems about 60 or 70 meters taller than Burlington House.

There also were workers at 432 Park. I walked by around 3:30 and saw people leaving the site.

Why the hell do they have height restrictions in NYC??? IMO all height restrictions are regressive.

Skizo: I'm wondering about that, too. For Midtown at least. And why the restrictions still don't prevent abominations like 432 Park. (I won't let go on this crusade.)

I do, ja.

Watch out for encyclopedic articles declaring it the biggest eyesore of this decade.

Verre could be a masterpiece though, if done right.
