There are some far uglier buildings in NYC, we need elegant ones like Verre, 157, and 432 to balance them out.

Walpole provided this link>http://www.adamson-associates.com/projects/moma-tower

Did the height reduction really affect the shape that much?

apparently. It also looks like they're going to use less transparent cladding. It's still beautiful.

I like the idea of the steel outside the skin more.

Agreed. I like the old version much better. To me it's obvious they made it a lot cheaper now. The steel beams are less "3d" and thinner. Now they don't look like a structural part of a building but like cheep decorative addition.

Hopefully, the guy doing the new render was just being lazy in terms of making the supports look 3d. If you look at the front it still suggest the metal protrudes from the surface.

The skeletton seems to have become more like an ornament
I hope we're looking at sloppy rendering here...

This is how TV has always been. This rendering has been on Hines' website for years.

NY is truly amazing! I can't even fathom What will be built when Wall Street recovers!

Isn't this a great day to celebrate NY's unparalleled dominance?

I quite like the change of the exterior steel. The glitz of the new design outshines the old. It looks even more extravagant and lavish than One57 now.

You didn't sound rude, but vague. What is that you haven't understood?

Pat,

You have a serious Napoleon complex vis-a-vis NYC.
