The "Highline" is a park in lower Manhattan which was built on old freight train tracks, in the so called "meatpacking district".

Render is some representation of what will get build. Let's hope it's a very poor representation of a very awesome tower in this case

I think the tower looks incredible in both renders. In my opinion this is an extremely difficult building to render and we won't know how it'll truly look until it's built

Why they don't pay much attention on the render is because than the tower would look much better in real life.

ekhem you sell most of the apartments in condo supertall in nyc before it even gets off the ground. So it's hardly a reason, especially that older renders were much better.

This tower will look remarkable no matter which of the two renders it follows, so let's just get over it. This tower has the potential to be the best supertall built this decade. I could care less which of the two it looks like because both are fantastic and incredible for Midtown.

This photo by John Flint shows a contrast between a 3,000 year old Egyptian Obelisk which was given to NY in the 19th Century, and Extell's new "obelisk." Very few New Yorkers are even aware of this obelisk, which sits in Central Park behind the Egyptian wing of the Met.

I can't wait for Torre Vere and 225 W 57th to be in this vista.

C'mon, stop it already. No need to post the same stuff in 4 different project threads.

1 this is a beautifull tower.
2 the rendering is not so good because was made fast after the change By A burdenn.
3 Architect of record is Adamson associates x arch records(rendering there , i dont know if the latest)
If you need Adamson you make a great complex work of ar chitecture, not cheap...
Adamson( london shard, iac Gehry,Petronas towers, hearst tower)
4 enjoy

Not Verre Yet: Hines Still Looking for Financing for MoMA Tower

http://observer.com/2012/11/not-verr...or-moma-tower/

Quote:
That, and the project’s starchitect pedigree, have the design-obsessed online watching the project’s every move. Last week, a contributor to the site Skyscraper City noticed that what looked like pile-driving equipment had been assembled on the site next to the Museum of Modern Art. This was a sure sign of the project’s imminent commencement, or so the photographer surmised. Lo, it is not so, according to Hines, the condo tower’s developer.

“That is not construction,” Tommy Craig, the director of Hines’s New York office said through a spokeswoman. “We are progressing on financing.” That has been the key piece hampering this project for the past year, ever since new plans were filed with the city. But so too have other towers suffered from a lack of financing, such as B2 at Atlantic Yards. Now that that building, as well as those like 432 Park are rising, and people are paying insane rates for condo units across the city, surely some bank somewhere must be warming up to this project.

From IrishInNYC on WNY, who works in the construction industry in New York:

"Looks like a boring rig to me, as in bore samples. The first step in compiling a geotechnical report so foundation bids can be tendered."

I was suspecting this to be honest. The machine was big so I wasn't sure but it was strange to me that they do pilling without digging the hole. Manhattan is very rocky and in every construction site there that I followed scenario was always the same. First dig the hole, and then drill holes with special drilling rigs directly into the bedrock. Have anybody ever seen drilling piles in Manhattan trough several meters of dirt? I've seen it in other countries where there is no bedrock close. But never in ny. I guess that machine we saw can be for soil testing or for something else.

The architectural drawings for the redesigned tower came to light in August; now, New York YIMBY spots some fresh renderings on the website of architects Adamson Associates. The archibabble explains: "The design features a faceted exterior that tapers to a set of three distinct asymmetrical crystalline peaks at the apex of the tower – each peak varying in height and shape." Inside, there will be 100 hotel rooms, 480,000 square feet of residential space, and 52,000 square feet of MoMA expansion.

I wish we'd get some new renders that aren't taken from street level or of the interior.

^Still. It's something more than what we've been getting for the past 4/5 years now. It shows that this project is getting ready to rise. We'll see skyline renderings and the like soon
