Um first off, there's no coherence in the columns, which makes it look ugly and messy from the inside and out. The shape is absolutely atrocious too, it looks like a dying branch awaiting for a strong enough gust to knock it off the tree. It's revolting and out of place.

You forgot: 'it doesn't blend!'

For which I am extremely grateful.

Innovative ideas, designs, concepts always are greeted by the sort of well intentioned if ignorant comments and reactions. I'm not indulging in personal attack, merely stating an established historical truth.

It's not ignorant, it's personal taste.

Sorry, but your comments are not informed. While they are personal they are still uniformed. You are entitled to your opinion but that doesn't give your comments any particular validity.
Architecture is not merely a matter of personal taste; it is much more than anything so pedestrian.

It's ironic that you say my comments are uninformed and lack validity considering your whole post is just that. In any case, i am not looking for validation on an online forum, this is simply nice outlet for me to express my thoughts about my passion, which are skyscrapers. Whether the people on the other end of the internet agree or disagree with my opinions and thoughts, is beyond my limit.

My opinion: if you don't like this building, there's something wrong with you.

I don't like the look of this building, maybe it will look better in real life which usually tends to be the case. Looks like they're trying too hard to be unique. Would be better off using one of the many rejected Chinese supertall designs. I am happy with the height though. New York deserves more supertalls.

Is the FAR ratio law still in existence? I'd like to see a good fat supertall like the old WTC towers grace the skyline once again.

Someone can't count: check the number of posts of those who agree with you and those who disagree with you.
You also appear to believe that while you have every right to your opinion, anyone who doesn't agree with you does not have that right. Re-read what you have written and try to see how someone else might understand your comments.
You have the right to your opinion but so does everyone else and that includes those who disagree with you.
While it is an open forum there is a distinct possibility that there are some posters who are not without experience and education in the field of architecture and art and this may be influencing their opinions so you may have something to learn. Depends on how receptive you are to ideas & opinions other than your own.
Personal abuse by anyone is not helpful, though while some people need to restrain their expressions, others may need to be less thin-skinned.
Just saying.

So he doesn't like it, who cares? Just take the criticism, it's how it works in the 21st century. Grow up, heh?
Just add him to your usual suspect list and you'll be fine

You got that wrong sir. You have the right to your opinion (ie to like the building), you also have the right to argue with people that you think are wrong at something. But you don't have the right to question someones else opinion, because since there are no right or wrong opinions obviously, questioning one is plain stupid by definition

Oh and did I mention, I love that building

Umm...but that is exactly what you just did. And that is fine.
Of course people have the right to question other people's opinion/s, just as you just did to mine.
It's part of the argumentative process, of human intercourse, the educational process, the political process, etc.

I suggest that we all move on and get back to this building and accept that while we all have the right to our opinion, we also have the right to challenge, & to accept the challenge as an exchange of ideas rather than a personal insult or affront. And it should be done without verbal abuse which is different from ('than' if you wish) from straight language.

PS I'm glad you love the building, too, as I do as can be seen by my occasional posts over the past few years.

My point was that you can question every opinion but opinion on aesthetics . You don't approach a guy in museum saying he's ignorant because he don't like a paint. All you can do is present knowledge to influence his opinion but if he won't change his mind you have to dill with it otherwize you risk looking like a ignorant yourself

Great news for the new year. There are so many buildings going up right now I have a hard time keeping up let alone trying to get to the sites with a camera.
