Great news indeed! I'm very interested in this one. Tower Verre and 56 Leonard will be the most unique skyscrapers in the Western Hemisphere.

This is looks like a 100% lock.

From IrishInNYC on WNY who works in the construction industry:

All I know is that financing is in place. Construction Management is about to be awarded and they want the foundation in this year. It is a complicated building to build with a safety cocoon included so there is some 'design and build' work going on in that regard prior to awarding superstructure contracts.

Sweet! Fantastic to hear! How soon could work start if let's say the GC will be awarded this week? hypothetically, Would it be reasonable to say that the could start within 3 months?

This is going to be my favorite "modern" building if the renders are accurate

Don't mean to bump this thread. I’m wondering when we are going to hear any kind of news for this project. I’m really looking forward to this one.

Three things are killing me as far as wanting any kind of news of the current projects in the city.

1) News of Tower Verre’s breaking ground
2) 225 W 57 renderings
3) News of anchor tenant for 3 WTC.

I wonder if Hines/ Nouvel could re-submit the original plans for this tower at the height of 1,250 ft and get approved this time around by the city of New York. I mean today there are taller buildings being built around its vicinity. Today the city is not averse to building taller as it was back in 2009. If I were Hines I would give it the ole college try and if all things fail just build at its current approved height of 1,050ft. Preferably this year. lol.

With news of One57 and 432 Park selling at astronomical prices especially on its higher floors, I would think Hines would like to get in on the action with this to maximize profits. Just my .02 cents.

Of course Hines wants to start this sooner rather than later, matter of financing a $1B project. But a few months ago we heard Hines had tapped I think Corcoran to market the units, then we had a flurry of building permits, then we had the pilling machine on site, and now we've heard from IrishInNYC this has financing and Hines wants foundations done by the end of the year, and more building permits. A summer groundbreaking for this seems certain.

As for resubmitting for the original height, chances are basically 0%. Amanda Burden is still making those decisions, and there's little reason to think she'd reverse her decision. Plus, you'd have to go through the entire several month long process again, to potentially be denied, in a market where 432 Park and 56 Leonard are 1/3 sold, and barely out of the ground, and with much more competition coming online: 225 W 57th, 107 W 57th, etc.

Hines revived 56 Leonard, and is building 7 Bryant Park with no tenants. With financing in place, 2013 is the year for this building.

A New Approval Permit today for some kind of work!!

Speaking of height, did this just get re-submitted to its original height? I find it curious the building details says 1,250 ft.

Building Height (ft.):
Proposed: 1250

Building Stories:
