Having looked at the drawings personally, I can tell you it is the reduced height.

You saw the drawings personally! Cool. I'll take your word for it. Like YankeeFan said above another approval process would delay this for months so i guess i don't expect this to happen should they have plans to build by the summer.

I just find it intriguing that particular permit says this... Maybe a typo or oversight on the part of DOB? But i will say this, Hines would still have all the drawings and work already done from the original proposal. Its very unlikely to change this at this point for the reasons YankeeFan has stated and i agree with that, but the developer could just decide last minute to scrap the new drawings and call an audible play and go back to the originals and go for it with the department.

Anyway, can't wait for this project to lift off!

Jacko,

I recall that you're in the construction industry. Did you see the drawings in connection with any recent bids?

From that DOB:

"Job Description:

INSTALLATION OF A PREFABRICATED TEMPORARY TRUSS ART EXHIBIT STRUCTURE KNOWN AS THE RAIN ROOM TO BE INSTALLED APRIL 10TH 2012 AND REMOVED APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 10TH 2013 AS PER PLANS FILED HERWITH. ALL PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT SHALL BE REMOVED UPON EVENT COMPLETION"

Clearly not the 1250 version.

Hmmm, As much as I liked Tower Verre's original planned height, I think now (by looking at some renders) it wouldn't sync well with One 57 and the rest of the skyline if it was taller. The reduced height makes it sort in very well.

I disagree. Because of the Midtown plateau (700 - 900 footers) Tower Verre will be barely visible, only the tip will somehow be noticed from afar. To break the plateau future Midtown towers need to be at least in the 1200 - 1400ft range, with 432 PA being the pioneer here.

One57 f.e. is right across Central Park, that's why it's so prominent even if it's "only" 1005 feet tall.

Wow. So are the rumors that this will start this year likely?

As per today's NY Times, the Folk Art building is coming down. The article claims that Tour Verre will start in 2014. Insiders on this board have suggested, however, that Hines will start the foundation this year.

Wow I had no idea MOMA had that many buildings. 2014 start? That seems so far away! I was expecting construction to start mid summer the earliest. Hopefully they will with the foundations at least.

Maybe the foundation will be laid this year and the superstructure will start early next year
