According to this new drawing of the top, Tower verre will rise to a height of 1113'8" or ~ 340m.

I made a polygon in google earth and found it is about 20m above sea level at the TV site. I think the diagram is using height above sealevel unfortunately.

I believe that is the height from sea level, not from street level (which presumably is around 60 ft).

Imagine 107 and 225 flanking One57 and this tower starts to fit in really well I think.

I don't want to be that guy who can't let anything go... But if Amanda Burden is leaving office at the end of the year, is there any chance the height issue can be revisited once she's gone? Could the developers possibly be waiting her out?

I hope that b**** will roll out from her office on a last day as far as I concern and door will hit her right in the @$$.

I'll take a year delay if the height will be brought back to original.

With 107 W 57th, they've got to boost this back up. It just doesn't just make sense to accept the reduction, I think they are waiting for Burden to leave.

I don't understand the reasoning for the height reduction for Tower Verre, while other towers planned (432 Park Avenue, 107 57th) have no reduction at all.

Provincialism.

"Shadows on the park". "Traffic". "Lack of scale". "Hurr". "Durr".

If it were just that easy.

Remember that she was up against a bunch of rich, self-entitled NIMBY c*cksuckers who threatened endless lawsuits if the tower's height wasn't reduced. Re-opening that can of worms could prove to be more expensive and time-consuming than it's worth. This beautiful tower has been delayed long enough.

Haha, well, it could be worth several hundred million dollars...

Tower Verre is subject to a height limit, per the zoning, that the 57th street towers aren't. It wasn't not a height reduction so much as it was a height denial. Hines is allowed to build Tower Verre to the 1050 ft figure as-of-right, and the 1250 ft figure was requested as a special consideration. Burden just denied the exception (for the reasons Simfan described).
