Burden just denied the exception (for the reasons Simfan described).
I guess that makes more sense. Hines should attempt a reconsideration of the original height. Of course thats probably more paperwork, time and money.

Nice tower. I still hope they adjust the design just a little bit to "refine" it.

I love the proportions of this tower. Like One57, it fits well in the skyline and in the fill of the city, unlike other towers proposed/under construction. (hopefully the nothern half of midtown will gain taller fillers to accomodate the overly-tall towers!)

Hopefully it will be clad like the John Hancock Center in Chicago. That would be so elegant and modern.

I'm finding myself less excited about this building as time goes on, I don't know what it is. Perhaps I'm just not into that dark gothic aesthetic that this one attempts to convey or else the height reduction killed it for me. Cross bracing is so old-hat. I actually find myself more interested in the "bamboo shoot" on 57th for its sheer simple audaciousness :0 I hope the good sir, Mr. Nouvel, can prove me wrong and that I'll end up loving this cathedral to Gotham.

He's referring to 107 W 57th, and its recently revealed first render. Some people have compared it to a bamboo shoot split down the middle.

I'm finding myself less excited about your complaining posts as time goes on.

Not a complaint, more an opinion on design, which is a VERY subjective thing. Very cute remark you made, but not exactly adding anything interesting to the discussion. If you don't like my opinions, best that you just ignore them instead of attempting to be provocative or snide. If you want a place where everyone agrees all the time, perhaps a forum on design isn't the right place for you. I tend to have a balanced approach and I enjoy stating my feelings on design whether they be positive or negative.

Amen. Personally I think Tour Verre is flawless, but there is way too much backlash against dissenting opinions on this website.

Tower Verre will be a beauty! Will be an instant classic in NYC architectural history.

So I'm not the only one who calls it "Tour Verre", then?

That makes sense. "Verre" is French for "glass", so using its version of "tower" (tour) makes sense. "Tower" (English) and "torre" (Spanish) don't make as much sense.

Well the name, in any language, doesn't make much sense anyway. It's not like it's the "glassiest" tower of the bunch.

As long as it isn't called "We have the Verre" I'm happy

Haha. If you read that sentence out loud in a Norwegian accent, it actually says "We've got it worse".
