Wow, I really really missed Jabal Akhdar ! ( are you sure it took 7 hours from Dubai ? It should be around 5 hours... its just around Nizwa --unless if you made stops)
I went to Jabal Akhdar last year in February, but it was cloudy and on the way back to Nizwa we were hit by hailstorm , and that only road was blocked by wadis ! Jabal Akhdar is very beautiful-- There is a very imposing Purple mosque and we ( me and my Omani friend Khalid ) visited several villages before heading to Wadi Bani Khalid and the old ruin.. Did you visit Jabal Shams too ? Next time I wanna visit Jabal Shams, the highest mountain in Oman ( 3500 metres high ). |

Hmm.... delicious Biryani /Qabooli I thing you got it from Bin ateeq ![]() Alhamdulillah. Am really glad to see your salah . Are they your classmates or relatives ? How much was the rent for villa ? Is that in Nizwa or Bahla ? Accommodation in Oman is so costly and I think staying in such villa requires you to pay around 100 OMR per night. I think I made mistake: the name of the famous wadi in Jabal Akhdar is Wadi Bani Habib, not W.B. Khalid. More pics, please/ |

Believe me the lunch was anything but delicious. The guys are either supervisors or one of those we used to supervise in summer camps in the last 5 years. The villa is located on the Green Mountain, it cost us 400 AED only.

I like the tradition of eating together in the same plate-- it was something new to me. 400 AED/ 40 OMR that's quite cheap in Oman standard ( and it's a double-storey villa !! ) . The biggest problem for tourists in GCC state is the Super high cost of accommodation and the lack of budget / youth hostels available for backpackers and middle-income travellers. ( Do you know that you can stay in a nice 3-star hotel in downtown Kuala Lumpur for just AED 20 per night ). It's nice to see you went to Wadi bani Habib + the old ruin. But the stairs is quite long . I think you can see many Walnut and apricot trees in Jabal Akhdar cuz it's the season . I wish I could join that trip too ! |

This is the first time I see photos of Jabal al-Akhdar. My Omani friend from Diba was always praising it, saying you drive in the desert and see a green mountain surrounded by mist in the distance, and then you actually approach it and as you go up it gets so cold.
Sounded cool, but I agree with you it looks like a brown/olive green patchy mess there... but I like the photo with donkeys and the old houses. It's like Yemen but safer :p Did anyone tell stories of black magicians around the campfire? For some reason Oman and Morocco have a reputation for sorcery.
