Who cares about an agglomeration? Milan, e.g., has 1.3 million inhabitants in the proper city, whereas the agglomeration has nearly 5 million. I have never noticed anybody saying that Milan is a city of 5 million people. And yeah, 1.8 is less than 2.0.

Vienna has less than 2 mio in the city proper. Rounding up from 1.8 to 2 is however a fair thing for a short remark like the one above (no one ever claimed that Vienna has "more than 2 mio" btw). But if you are on a conquest for pickiness, yes you are right, 1.8 is less than 2.0.

That said, the agglomeration numbers are in fact not unimportant for evaluating also the cities themsevles. Paris proper has for example only 2.2 mio inhabitants. But no one would claim that "Vienna" comes even close to the size of "Paris" even if the difference according to statistics would be only 0.4 mio people. Yes, the urban area matters.

Relax guys! I was just posting a fact that the city of Vienna had less than 2 million citizens because someone had been trying to convince us of the opposite. I have no clue how size of Prague is related to this discussion.

I always say Milan is a city of 7 million, so I'm an exception to your rule. Who cares about the city proper?

Well Prague has 2.3 m inhabitants in metro area and Vienna has 2.4 so thats definitely not "lot bigger" the difference is only 100k., but in city proper it´s more like 400k. It matters if you are talking about metro or not, but perhaps none would said that Paris is 2.2 thats true, but stop this city vs city bullshit guys.

No one tried to convince anyone of that. One person was using figures rounded to full numbers in mio. This is not outlandish at all if your aim is to give a rough estimation and not to say "Hey look, Vienna has more than 2 mio inhabitants". It is you who tried to turn this into an issue.

But I agree, lets get back to the DC towers. If you want to bash Vienna, do so in the DLM, not here.

If you count in Vienna's suburbs, the city has well over 2 million inhabitants.

Thanks!

Whats the problem? Vienna is a beautiful city, with amazing historical parts and on the other side the city gets a nice and modern skyline - so what should I say? For me its not really important that Vienna maybe has a few million inhabitants lesser then Paris, or London, or any other city - I just love the city and no one can change my opinion in this.
So let it be and let's talk about the DC-Towers...

Btw: The DC-Tower 1 should be opened in October 2013. In summer 2013 they also will demolish the cinema on the other side of the tower (opposite the "Wagramer Straße" (street)) and in the end of 2013/beginning 2014 they will build one more white, really amazing residential high-rise - called "Danube Flats" on this ground. You can find some informations and pictures here.
Unfortunately we don't know when they will begin to build the DC-Tower 2 in front of the "big brother" - they said they will build this tower after DC-Tower 1 is finished, so lets hope the second tower will also rise up next year!

The tower looks really nice. It's going to be a twin, right?
