Oh, yes! They have to pay you if they use you for anything. It just amounts to chump change when you're just an extra. If you're SAG, you get paid a minimum daily rate for even a one-liner, like what happened with me on Making Mr. Right when I got my SAG card, but I don't know what the daily rate would be today.

Please don't trigger yet to happen broken dreams.
Getting your SAG ain't that easy and without it the production companies will pimp you cheap. You need either loads of talent or connections to L.A, actually both and your chances to get to do something else besides extra work are slim. Doable and possible with the likelyhood of 0,1%. I've got a degree in film(behind the camera, I do enough acting in life) and haven't done a thing since graduating. Any reasons? No movation to make mountains move despite having all the connections in Tinseltown from A to Z. Why is that? The mainstream simply doesnt serve my interest and very few of them meet my criteria. Giving time for my own things. Lots of appreciation to rakontour and other doc producers that can make the story to be told with skills, - Cocaine Cowboys. Sequels are hard to handle but I'm looking forward to Hustlin' with the Godmother. M.I Yayo came out too, but i'm yet to find a torrent source. C.S.I Miami practically only has insert shots done in Miami, the rest are shot in L.A. Same with C.S.I and C.S.I New York. They shoot the most they can in Los Angeles and set it up and play with Avid to make it look like MIA. Southern Florida has a growing indie production wave going on but it will take quite a while or loads of money to actually have production in the city. Want to do acting? Better be prepared for audience work, then maybe move to background acting and so on. Or it might turn into a crash and meth addiction, living on the streets because you couldnt handle the tricky industry. Having lived in L.A and knowing loads of people who work on the industry full time, have worked and tried to make it has given me a lot, a deep picture of what the entertainment industry is a like. But if this sounds as if it could fit into your life, go for it. |

What's ironic about the way things happened for me is that I crashed and burned in L.A., which is how I ended up back here in Florida, but then got my SAG card here in South Florida. Shortly after I got my SAG card is when I was offered a decent job after doing temp work for a while. I decided that maybe it was time to grow up, accept reality, and take a real job that had benefits and paid the bills on time, but now, since I have a decent job working graveyard with free time during the afternoon, I decided to put myself out there again. I don't see myself being a leading man jumpstarting my acting career this late in life, but everybody on TV has to have a dad somewhere. That's the way I look at it now. Anthony Hopkins is my inspiration because even though he was in the film industry for decades, he didn't become a star until playing Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.

Fringe on Fox is set in Boston. But, they are using the BOA building as the FBI building. They use aerial shots two or three times per episode. You can clearly see the old court house in some shots.

I noticed that too. The production staff got very lazy in selecting a building. They at least could have picked one that was not so obviously in Florida because you can see some palm trees in the shot, last time I checked there aren't palm trees up in Boston.

According to Google Translate
they are also going into the less glamorous side like immigrant quarters, he apparently moved to Miami in the 90's and seems to like it alot. Also read a while ago he has an Art Studio in Little Haiti.

Definition of Quarter - a division or district of a town or city < he describes the immigrant quarter.
