Hi VDB.
Thanks for the pictures; I really enjoyed and appreciated them. However, can I ask that next time, instead of directly pasting the pictures on here, they're added to Flickr or something similar so that those of us with slow connections (I'm an ex-pat in the wilds of Northern Canada) won't have to wait so long and can flick through them one at a time? ![]() Thanks! |

Sure thing! Sorry about that, I've been meaning to set up a Flickr account for a long time now, the only problem is that once you've exceeded your bandwidth or whatever Flickr deletes all the photos from your page and then whenever you've posted any pictures on a forum like this they don't show up. Just go to the beginning page of most threads on SSC where renders or artists impressions have been posted, hardly any show anymore.
That's why I use Tinypic. But maybe I could carry on getting an URL for the picture off Tinypic, whilst uploading them to Flickr at the same time..? Anyway, glad you enjoyed the photos

These early nights are a bit crap, but the city does come in to its own.
Exchange Square back to us its uncluttered best and they've got the paving lights working. Also you can see the attractive, subtle new lighting that the Corn Exchange has now got. There are awnings on the side facing the Cathedral, which have made an equally positive, yet under-stated improvement ![]() In this shot you can see blue lighting at the top and botton of the Urbis, highlighting the restaurant:

One of the city centre's more interesting doors. Feel free to join in with other interesting doors, or street name signs:

...no point having them on while they were buried under a ferris wheel...the Manchester Market arrives soon, hopefully they'll arrange the stalls in a manner sympathetic to the hardscape.

Good work Cobbydaler. I wasn't sure anybody would join in, but I'm sure all of the forumers have their favourites too. Admit it, your amongst kindered spirits.

Dont suppose there is any chance of giving them a title and saying where they are,or maybe even some history.

Reflections in the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons:
![]() Shame it had to close just after it opened! I do like the way it exposes both the older buildings either side.

Not sure if this is the right thread (or if these have been posted before), but there's some wonderful pictures of old Manchester on this Flickr album:
