After the stormflood of news of last year, it seems like the project gets a bit to quiet for me. Are there any insights in to when this project gets picked up again?

Related just secured a $450 million loan from Starwood Property Trust to build the Coach Tower at Hudson Yards: http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/02/...-hudson-yards/

Quote:
In the latest sign that the construction loan market is getting back on its feet, Starwood Property Trust is nearing the final steps of issuing a $450 million construction loan to the Related Companies for the first phase of the Hudson Yards development, the New York Observer reported. The loan is slated to close in the next 30 days.

If the loan is issued, it will mark the latest in recent activity for Starwood. As previously reported, the developer of the Charles condominium at 1355 First Avenue nabbed $86 million in construction loans from Starwood. Also, the Observer said, Starwood and a controlled fund closed $475 million in acquisition and construction financing for 701 Seventh Avenue, known as the Times Square Gateway Center.

Related and Oxford Property Group are developing the first tower, a 47-story property set to be the home of luxury retailer Coach. A spokesperson for Related told the Observer that construction on the tower began in December and that they have their “financial commitments” for the building set in place.

Yup, patience is gold. Soon someone will post something like: '' I walked by the site this morning and I saw the Coach towers cladding, it looks great''.

Can we get this listed as "Under Construction" now, desertpunk? The article states it's been U/C since December.

A lot of activity last night

I was by the site at about 9 PM. The rain managed to hold off for most of the night. There was a lot of noise all over that area between the Coach Tower and that 400ish foot residential tower next to the curve in the High Line at Hudson Yards and at Manhattan West.

Mostly piling work with a couple of backhoes moving dirt. There are some great cracks in the fences across from OHM and at the main access. Best time is at night or security will be extra irritating.

Unfortunately, no visible progress on the rail yards though...
All images are mine and uploaded with imageshack.

I can see them perfectly. Looks like they are working on foundations in the 2nd pic. Is that the site of the Coach tower?

Yeah, I'll move it. Piles being driven everywhere...

Also, 'Tower C' (the Coach Tower) will be 895 ft. tall: http://www.asce.org/CEMagazine/Artic...id=23622322774

Quote:
Tower C will be 895 ft tall, tapering in an east-west direction from approximately 225 ft at the base to 140 ft at the top, creating different floor areas at each level and the visual appearance of leaning toward the city. The exterior of the tower will boast floor-to-ceiling glass and two large outdoor terraces—one on the 32nd floor, and the other on the 47th floor.

Yes, that is the south east corner where the Coach Tower will be.
Great, so the Coach tower is U/C and will be 273m.

Well we made it to the "Under construction" category! Finally!

I think this place will be the new biggest talk in town for a very very long time even after it is finished. It has all the potential to become another Rockefeller center since it has a lot of open air activities for people. Also location with the view on Hudson river makes it parallel to none.

The Coach Tower is clearly U/C, but it's not a supertall, hence doesn't belong here. I'd still prefer to split the thread.

Exactly. People stick to High line like bees to honey. Build them a nice open space with small shops, restaurants and possible winter activities and you will have an instant success of the whole complex. No one is interested in empty streets anymore. People need socializing and this idea has plenty of it. Hence its future is assured.

Either split the threads or move this back to proposed. The super tall is not U/C.
