It's crazy to me how someone could think these towers were, "excruciatingly bland glass box[es], but calls the McGraw Hill Building, pictured below, "a real gem." Bananas.

I believe there are two. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McGraw-Hill_Building

I agree with you though. Nothing bland about this project.

Ah, good catch. Still don't like that all that much if I'm honest. Anyways...

Try this on for comparison.....

That's the top, and here's one of the entrances......

Yes, the phase one towers are architecturally bland. Totally uninteresting.

Even the beekman tower has more character.

My apologies in advance .... I think the 2 "leaning" towers look ridiculous. I know I'll get castigated and called a Philistine for saying that.

an opinion is an opinion. There's no need to get all worked up about it. It took awhile for the scissor-like design of the two offices towers to grow on me.

They aren't technically leaning though are they? Just boxes sliced to appear to be leaning.

I wish they had stuck with the crowns out rather than in.

I agree on both. One corner is going straight up, so I wouldn't call them leaning either.

How can you say that when the Corsett Tower is right next to it , the office towers are the most common ones there.

Each one leans back in a different direction, which is why the architect class them the scissor towers.

There is a difference between leaning towers...

..and towers with slanted sides...

The HY towers lean more like 122 Leadenhall.

...em, I think you're the only one getting 'worked up' here. It's just his opinion, he doesn't need your permission to have it.

I like them though I wish they were surrounded by a variety of other buildings so they didn't stick out so much on their own.

But that is just their speciality, the WTC is not as outstanding due to the other towers.
