You better apologize for quoting pictures again and again which are right above your post. Please use the sign in that case to keep order in the forums. Only quote when it's really needed, especially when it comes to pictures. That's annoying, but your opinion is welcome off course.

I have a feeling that One Hudson's design and configurations are far from final, as this space won't be leased anytime soon. Once Phase 1 of Related's HY has been fully leased, the focus will shift to the GCT towers. Thereafter, Related will be offering, at cost, 2m more sf of space in Phase 2 of the HY.

Is there a thread for the HY South (Coach) Tower??

Tutor Perinin awarded construction contract for Hudson Yards South Tower in New York City:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/tut...ity-2013-03-27

"Tutor Perini Building Corp., was recently awarded a construction contract by Related Companies ("Related") and Oxford Properties Group to build the South Tower at Hudson Yards, a 26-acre mixed-use development in midtown Manhattan. The 1.7 million-square-foot, 47-story South Tower, located at the northeast corner of 10th Avenue and 30th Street, will be the future home of Coach, Inc.'s world headquarters. Construction commenced on the anticipated LEED Gold tower late last year and is expected to be complete in 2015"

-- did this just get a haircut from 51 floors to 47 floors? Anyway, this is exciting. This should start in a couple of months then.

Finally, Coach is near to bagging a new HQ

Quote:
The luxury handbag maker will pay developer The Related Cos. more than $750 million for nearly half of the 47-story tower now rising west of Penn Station.

An agreement with high-end handbag maker Coach to anchor the first office tower set to rise at the Hudson Rail Yards west of Penn Station is on the verge of being signed, sources involved in the transaction said. The news comes nearly a year and a half after talks first began for the deal under which Coach will acquire its new 740,000 square-foot home in the 47-story, 1.7 million-square-foot building as a condominium interest. Coach will pay developer The Related Cos. over $750 million, according to a source with direct knowledge of the transactions terms.

The deal cements the financial viability of the first tower at the rail yards, where ground was broken in December. The Coach building will be the first of many that Related plans to erect at the 26-acre site. All told, the project is expected to cost $15 billion and to add more than 13 million square feet of commercial, retail and residential space.

In the coming days, according to a Related spokeswoman, the company will also close on a 99-year, $1-billion lease with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which owns the site. Related first entered into contract with the agency in 2010 but has delayed closing as it has worked to line up tenant commitments to the project.

--------

The deal with Coach is the first of at least three set to be completed at the building. The German software company SAP and the cosmetics company L'Oreal are both in advanced negotiations to lease hundreds of thousands of square feet apiece, commitments that would fill roughly 80% of the tower. A source said that those deals would now progress towards completion now that the Coach deal is done.

I am confused.

Can anyone please clarify what buildings are being built from the Hudson Yards Project?

^ In the rendering below, the Coach Tower which is on the right, is in prep, and is fully funded, and has leased about 75%+ of its space.

The second from the right, is the North Tower, 408 meters, and needs a tenant but Related is leasing space at the cost of construction so a tenant is expected soon, so construction can start mid 2014.

The "Corset" tower on the left is a residential building with a mid 2014 start date, and the Equinox (not shown in the rendering below) tower also has a mid 2014 start date, and because these two are residential and mixed use, they're easy to finance especially when you consider Related's partner is Oxford. For these two, if Related says it'll start mid-14, they'll start mid-14.

These buildings make a very dramatic and futuristic appearance and after I recently discovered this project it seems almost as exciting as the World Trade Center multi-building project. I'm just wondering why we don't seem to have any photos of the actual work site where the Coach Tower is supposed to be under construction. Is there something about this location that makes getting in there and taking photos impractical or is this area restricted for some reason? Thanks. And by the way, I like the design so much that it's been my screen saver for quite awhile now. It's so much bolder than what we see typically being constructed in the US.

I think it has to do with the location and the fame. It's located in Hell's Kitchen/ Chelsea which is not a must be location for most New Yorkers nor tourists, and except for everybody on sites like ssc and some other people, the whole project isn't yet well known. The only thing why people are going there now is for the High Line.

So this is so far the only u/c building on the site? If that's the case this thread should be split so that each tower has its own thread to avoid confusion, like in the case of the WTC

Maybe because it's the lower one, as is 4wtc. If the other towers weren't there, they wouln't look that fat.

There are many fatter buildings in NYC, however the tapering of the two main towers amplifies their fatness, which means that both of the towers (yup, even the North Tower) appear very fat. That's the main reason why I think that the design of these towers could have been better. 1WTC tapers as well, but it looks slender and elegant, these buildings on the other hand look just very fat ....

Just requested this thread to be broken up and moved. Doesn't make any sense to have it in the supertall U/C section when there is no supertall U/C at the moment.
Same situation in complexes around the world where the skyscrapers are U/C and the supertalls have yet to start, however, those threads are in the correct sections.
Maybe this thread wants to move up artifically because it is in New York but we all know that no supertall is U/C on the site right now. Simple as that.
