From that article, it sounds like Time Warner's move into this building is pretty much a shoe in.

World Trade Center chief hops to Hudson Yards

"... His focus will be on a 2.4 million-square-foot tower on the north end that is slated to house Time Warner offices..."

Trust me, it will. Already now it is a financial success so there's no reason why it shouldn't be built

I'll wait for the signature on the lease contract before I cheer.

I've got to say, I have reservations about the design of this plaza. From the renderings I've seen, neither the north or south towers will have significant entrances from 10th ave. Adding to that this plaza which is elevated from street level (you can see it joins seamlessly with the High Line in the foreground of this view), and I can't help but think these towers will be quite isolated from the neighborhood.

It will also be interesting to see what kind of people end up populating this space. Penn Station is kind of the unofficial "homebase" for the City's homeless, and the public spaces in that area are not pleasant places. I feel like that's going to spill over.

I would not be concerned about the homeless setting up shop there. It still a nice distance from Penn station to where the Plaza will be in the Yards.

The homeless like Penn Station for whatever their reasons are and I suspect that will not change anytime soon.

I don't really see homeless hanging out by the Highline, Bryant Park or Central Park. I would say they would be staying near areas where there is a church, drug clinic or shelter. lol. So if any of those 4 organizations decides to set up within the development then I would have concerns.

Somehow, modern architects still fail to create the grand plazas and urban spaces earlier generations created. It's nice and everything, but still more like a space you pass by than one you want to stay at.

We still have not really seen what this plaza will really be like. Related is planning a huge monument that will be to New York what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris within the plaza. This will be a great space. I would not pass judgment so quickly.

Even so, You build any park/ plaza or green space in NYC. People will come, stay and enjoy it. People always do and this will be no different.

Well, whatever it ends up being like, I think it's safe to say demo has begun on the MOE building!

That is absolutely not true. We don't have to look very far - Highline Park or Parks placed in route of old highway in Boston.
From what you write in this forum I'd say you look so much to the past that you can't see present.

Hopefully 360 10th ave will provide a nice east entrance using the spur. Have no idea about its status though.

So strange that Brookfield proposed this grand eastern entrance while Related just made a wall.

Thanks for the orientation of the rendering. So we're looking north, up the future "valley" of the to-be-created Hudson Blvd Park, correct?

I notice that this info/photos/renderings are in the North Tower thread, even though all the actual on-going construction is for the South/Coach tower, the Culture shed/extension foundations and, I assume, the foundations for the retail platform. should this go into a different thread?

Regarding the city's homeless, I'll quote from the recent ny.curbed.com article "Hudson yards tenants await the area's redevelopment". Apparently this homeless person has enough money to buy a tent & perhaps no experience of NYC winters:

The area is a destination for homeless people. "I'm going to buy a tent," said one recent arrival from California. "Is there a good place to put a tent around here?"

Yes, I'd say the view is hovering above 30th street slightly east of Ohm.

It's the strangest part of the design in my opinion. And incorporating the spur into 360 10th still wouldn't provide any fluid street access. If you're coming off the High Line, it'll be great. I believe the plaza will also be at grade from the north on 33rd, so you'll have good access coming off the new 7 train station as well. But from the south and east approaches, at least from the street, it's going to feel very imposing.

Its funny you say this, when the High Line, one of the most successful new urban spaces in the U.S. is directly adjacent to the site.
